Bruce looked him dead in the eyes, as he said those words, his situation wasn't a secret, so it was reasonable to let him know that it was because of the family he was being admitted.
'If not that I do not want to sound rude and burst his bubbles, I would have long told him to skip this part of it, I already get the message he is trying to convey. Anyways, I understand he is afraid, and whoever that had sent him, must have also been worried since I am being treated as a bastard, and doesn't want him to hold a grudge against the main family.
'What if I told him, I already do, I wonder what would be his reaction? But he's totally missing my reasons.'
Looking as though he was in deep thought, Ainz lowered his head but soon raised it up with a more determined expression, as if buying everything he had just said.
"Your students understand, master!'
Bruce stared at him for a moment, as if trying to decipher his thoughts.'If he is lying, he's sure good at it.'
After he thought that, he gave up on trying to understand Ainz's intention, and soon resumed his explanation.
"Since you understand then I guess it's settled, congratulations kid, you are now the youngest member to ever serve among the guard of the Kalamas family. In case you are wondering, our duties mostly consist of solving bandits' issues and magical beasts within the territories of the Kalamas family since it's the duty of the guard to protect both the inner and outer circle.
"When we are done, I will find time to explain more about the missions later, now let's pay attention, I am going to start with the part you constantly got your ass wiped for."
Hearing what Bruce said, it was needless to say it was the reason why he had accepted to join the guard so his attention immediately skyrocketed.
"Am sure you must have read about the cultivation system and the like, so I will skip the long-winded part. Although you are an elf, your case is different and unique so I will use the human cultivation centers of power for you.
"Human cultivation can be divided into three parts, the mana core, physique, and sea of consciousness. These three are deeply connected if you want to become a cultivator, except for magical beasts.
"The mana core is at your lower abdomen, it's usually formed at an early age but from fifteen for safety. It is the place where cultivators accumulate mana, and once accumulated, it will nourish the body and the mind as well.
"For a cultivator, the body is their shell, this also applies for wizards but am not going to go into that, it can be nourished by constantly absorbing mana, and the stronger it is the more stable your mana core and body will be.
"While the sea of consciousness is at the center of your brain, and it's that place where your mental energy generates and dwells. Enlarging your sea of consciousness will not only give you more space to store mental energy, but will also unlock your sixth senses that will sharpen your perception and quicken your thoughts, this is the major reason wizards are able to cast multiple spells at once.
"That's that, if you have any questions you can ask before I continue."
Ainz closed his eyes and repeated what Bruce had just said, if he was being honest most of the things he already knew about them, the only reason why he was going as far as listening to them, was because he was simply no longer a monarch, nor was he in the underworld.
He didn't want to take any unnecessary risky actions that would affect his growth and this new body, but now listening to what Bruce had said, it occurred to him that there really wasn't much difference with the knowledge he had, maybe he could even begin to apply what he knew at this point.
After thinking for a while, he found things he wanted to make sure of:
"Bruce I mean...master, I have two questions, you said the technique which I had learned was an imitation of an actual cultivation technique right? If The mana core is formed at the age of fifteen, does that mean I can't cultivate for the next 3 years?"
The reason he said so, was because as far he was concerned he had already formed his mana core when he was just a baby, so what was the nonsense Bruce was talking about? Again this was why he had wanted to join the guards, if he had continued to cultivate the wyvern king cultivation technique like that, he would have eventually mutated into a wyvern.
At the same time, Bruce's answer was immediate, as he had probably foreseen the doubts and disappointment in the kid's eyes the moment he said that part.
"Real body cultivation methods use the mana it stores in the mana core to nourish the body and nourish it. In comparison, the imitation is just a half-ass process that draws mana forcefully stores half of what it absorbs, and gradually nourishes it.
"The difference lies in the quantity and quality of mana absorbed, besides that, the half-ass imitation also wastes more than half of what it absorbs, also, the imitation is limited to the physical limit of the body. While the real deal actually breaks those limits."
