At first when Ainz heard he was going to be transmigrated to a new world after his demise, and he was a half-elf he didn't know if he should be happy about it. He thought of all how those he had helped watched, while he was being betrayed and killed, he even wondered how his home Niflheim would survive without him, all he wanted was to go back to his previous world.
But the more he stayed and observed his surroundings and the Ancient being who had brought him to this world, that was when it suddenly dawned on him he might really not be able to go back, even if he wanted to.
Because, first of all, he had no idea how the souls of humans work, and how far or where those ancient beings had brought his soul too.
Yet, after his soul was transmigrated into a half-elf, he started considering how he could exploit this world for himself, or thought that there might be much more the eyes could see, especially with the fact he was not only granted a second chance he was also given a system, this made him feel more apprehensive.
He stared at the old man whose skin appeared a bit brown, much like it was tanned from the constant contact with the sun.
He stood at the edge of the balcony seemingly appearing out of nowhere, his mind fell into contemplation with the miracle he had just performed. Would he discover the system or the fact he wasn't exactly normal, although he didn't possess any shadow energy current that didn't mean he was safe right?
'What the hell should I do to not make me appear much more intelligent than a normal baby? If he could fight a wyvern and kill it. Then, he could likely notice something strange about the wyvern's last attack. According to what I have seen this old man isn't a normal wizard and apparently also my grandfather which makes me his grandson.'
After a few thoughts rummaged through his mind, he began to sum up the previous event, and had one thought.
'Where the hell did my soul end up in? Wasn't I Transmigrated to a Normal world? If there are people who could display abilities single-handedly, I wonder if there are people who are as powerful as ancient monarchs or even monarchs in this world?
'Wait, since I have been born into such a family, doesn't that mean I could read up on such valuable information, it means even if my father Andrew doesn't like me I should be able to learn a thing or two, even without a System.'
While he thought so, his line of thought got interrupted by Kalamas, who was entering the balcony and slowly walking towards their direction.
"Sorry, father-in-law patriarch. This is my son Ainz, son of Andrew."
Lilith said as she bowed her head slightly to greet him, before gently exposing Ainz who was lost in thoughts to Kalamas for him to have a better view of him.
Lilith bit her lips as she exposed Ainz to Kalamas, if it was in the past she wouldn't have done this, to the extent of wanting someone else to protect her child. Nonetheless, she still swallowed her pride even though she knew her husband didn't really care about her or his son's wellbeing.
Ainz was her son even if Andrew said he had a trash bloodline, and every mother's duty or wish was to make sure their child lived a better life even at the cost of their own ego or pride.
As Lilith exposed Ainz to him, she wanted to remind him the baby was still his blood, and wanted to impose a tinge of love in the heart of Kalamas for his grandson.
Ainz, in the meantime, was about sweating bullets, though he didn't know what he did wrong, but he felt if the old man noticed something strange about him and the wyvern or detected the floating system, he knew he was toast.
Kalamas, didn't even notice the fright he had subconsciously put the child into, with his presence.
'Hopefully, the old man is captivated by my cuteness. Otherwise, I might need to switch to plan B too early'
Outwardly, Ainz didn't dare say these things out of caution, especially if the old man could translate baby words.
Yet, Ainz still stretched his hands showing the curiosity any baby did, when they saw something or someone interesting.
If there was any way he could borrow through the ground he would have long done so, but outwardly he put on his best baby behavior, at the sight of him.
It was needless to say, ever since he came into this world, everything left a deep impression on him.
After all, this wasn't Niflheim nor was he a monarch anymore he was just an ordinary baby with a system, none of the knowledge he had was useful right now, living in a different world was easier said than done in reality. While everything appeared to be unreal he was now living in it.
"Oh oh oh"
Looking at the baby happily stretching his arms toward him, Kalamas couldn't help but chuckle at such a funny but cute gesture the child displayed.
A warm smile appeared on his face, as he carried the child in his arms.
"Oooh, even without a bloodline he seems unique, his eyes show intelligence of being strong-witted. Maybe he might give the family a few surprises in the future, I'll keep an eye on him from time to time, after all he is my grandson."
After hearing those words, Lilith was happy and hurriedly said the most respectful thanks she could think of.
"Many thanks, dear father-in-law patriarch. I'm sure he will surprise you in the near future, and with your might his life can be assured with just a snap of your finger."
She bowed as she said so.
"Hahahaha, my daughter-in-law feel at ease. Here, take Andrew's son and bring him back to his room, for a rest. Today's events are not something a child should have witnessed."
Kalamas said with a frown, and handed Ainz back to Lilith as he disappeared from the balcony.
Lilith could not stop her excitement after he left and looked at Ainz with a bittersweet smile.
"Son, have you heard? Your grandfather will keep an eye on you. The patriarch of the Kalamas family will keep an eye on my son. Work hard enough dear, so that you can show the whole family you are a true son of the kalamas household."
