Chapter 32 - Apocalypse Livestream

Andy's POV

-Night of the Apocalypse-

"Hey everyone, Andy here, coming to you live from the not-so-glamorous confines of my university dorm room. Hope you're all doing fantastic tonight—or at least better than me, stuck here with a mountain of textbooks that I swear is getting taller by the second."

"So, what's new with you guys? Drop your updates in the chat, and let's make this livestream a little less about my tragic academic endeavours and more about, well, literally anything else."

[**NinjaPenguin42**: LOL, Andy, still trying to make it as a streamer? Don't quit your day job... if you have one.]

"Ah, NinjaPenguin42, always here to keep my ego in check. Don't worry, my day job as a professional procrastinator is going strong, thank you very much."

[**CookieMonster123**: That room looks like a hurricane hit it. Ever heard of cleaning?]

"You know, CookieMonster123, I considered tidying up, but I thought the authentic 'disaster zone' vibe really added to the ambiance. Plus, if a real hurricane hit, I doubt anyone would notice the difference."

[**RocketRaccoon88**: Show us some magic tricks, Andy. Make your GPA disappear!]

"Funny you should mention magic tricks, RocketRaccoon88—I've been working on this one where I turn ramen noodles into a gourmet meal. Sadly, my GPA pulled a vanishing act all on its own; no magic needed."

[**SpaceCadet2020**: Bet you can't do a handstand right now.]

"Challenge accepted, SpaceCadet2020. Just let me clear a small area where the collateral damage will be minimal. And by clear, I mean shove everything to one side of the room."

"Alright, here goes nothing... or, more accurately, here goes Andy attempting a handstand and hopefully not ending up in the campus medical centre."

[Struggles, laughter, and a thud]

"Well, that was... something. Not sure if it qualified as a handstand, but hey, at least I'm still in one piece. I'll take that as a win."

[**FluffyBunny359**: Andy, you're a legend. Never change, man.]

"Thanks, FluffyBunny359? I'll take 'legend' as a compliment, even if it's for my unparalleled ability to make a fool of myself on the internet. Remember, folks, if you can't be a shining example, be a dire warning."

"Alright, team, I think that's my cue to wrap things up before I cause any more damage—either to my dorm or my dignity. Thanks for tuning in to watch the Andy Show, featuring special guest appearances by my questionable life choices. Catch you all next time—if there is a next time, considering my handstand stunt."

"Stay safe, stay awesome, and remember: laughter's the best medicine, especially when your life's a joke like mine. Goodnight, everyone!"

Just as I was about to hit the 'End Stream' button, wrapping up another night of what I liked to call "The Andy Comedy Hour," a blood-curdling screech ripped through the air.

It was so sharp, so unexpectedly terrifying, that I couldn't help but yell out,

"What the f*** was that?!"

The chat, which had been a mix of playful banter and the usual roasts, suddenly became a hotbed of alarm and speculation.

[**NinjaPenguin42**: Did anyone else hear that?? Andy, you messing with us?]

[**CookieMonster123**: That sounded like something from a horror movie, dude. You sure you're alone in there?]

I glanced nervously around my cramped dorm room, the familiar clutter now taking on a more sinister appearance under the dim light.

The tension in the air was palpable, even through the screen.

[**GalacticGecko**: That's not normal, man. Check your room!]

[**LlamaDelRey**: Seriously, Andy, that was freaky. What if it's something dangerous?]

With my heart racing, I grabbed my phone, the livestream still rolling, and began to cautiously inspect my room.

Every shadow seemed to dance menacingly, and I half-expected some nightmarish creature to emerge from the mess on my floor.

"Guys, I swear on my mountain of unwashed laundry, I have no idea what that was," I tried to joke, hoping to lighten the mood despite the unease clawing at my own nerves.

"Definitely not a prank. I wish it was."

[**PixelPirate**: Bro, this isn't funny anymore. Check the hallways or something. Stay safe.]

[**MysticMermaid**: That sound was too real. Be careful, Andy.]

As I poked around, finding nothing more ominous than last week's pizza box, the gravity of the situation began to dawn on me.

That unearthly scream was unlike anything I'd ever encountered.

A shiver ran down my spine as I realized that the world outside my dorm might have just become a far scarier place.

Fuelled by the relentless urging of my viewers, I decided to take the plunge and investigate the source of that terrifying screech.

Not wanting to leave my "fans" hanging, I rigged my phone onto a hands-free harness, effectively turning my setup into a makeshift body cam.

To stay connected with the chat, I popped in one of my wireless earbuds, setting the chat to text-to-speech so I wouldn't miss a beat of their commentary—or their wise cracks.

Grabbing the metal baseball bat that had been serving more as a laundry rack beside my bed, I squared my shoulders and threw out my catchphrase to rally the troops.

"Let's dive into the unknown, team. Andy's Adventure Hour just got a whole lot more... adventurous."

The chat buzzed with activity, their messages funnelling into my ear as I cautiously cracked open my dorm room door.

[**NinjaPenguin42**: "Into the unknown with Andy the Brave! Don't get eaten, dude."]

I couldn't help but chuckle, the familiar banter grounding me as I peered into the dimly lit hallway.

"Eaten is definitely not on my agenda tonight, NinjaPenguin. Thanks for the vote of confidence."

[**CookieMonster123**: "Remember, Andy, don't swing at shadows. We need you in one piece."]

"Shadows are the least of my worries, CookieMonster. But duly noted," I whispered back, my grip tightening on the bat as I took a tentative step into the corridor.

[**GalacticGecko**: "Left or right, Andy? Let the chat decide!"]

I paused, glancing in both directions.

"Alright, GalacticGecko, we're making this interactive. Left or right, folks? Quick poll."

The responses came in a flurry, the consensus leaning towards the right.

"Right it is. Here's hoping it's the right choice," I quipped, trying to keep the mood light as I ventured down the hall, the camera bouncing slightly with each step.

[**LlamaDelRey**: "Watch your back, man. Whatever made that noise might not be friendly."]

"Always do, LlamaDelRey. Got my trusty bat and my even trustier viewers watching my six," I replied, my voice steady even as my heart raced.

The hallway seemed to stretch on forever, each door I passed a potential hiding spot for... well, I wasn't quite sure what.

The tension was palpable, even through the screen, the chat's constant flow of advice, warnings, and the odd joke a lifeline in the eerie silence.

[**PixelPirate**: "Did you hear that? Stop!"]

I froze, straining my ears. "PixelPirate, don't start with the jump scares, man. My heart can't take it."

But there it was again—a soft, almost imperceptible shuffle from behind one of the doors.

The chat erupted with theories and commands, but one voice stood out, clear and calm amidst the chaos.

[**MysticMermaid**: "Be careful, Andy. We're all here with you."]

Nodding to myself, I squared my shoulders. "Thanks, MysticMermaid. Here goes nothing."

With the chat's voices in my ear, offering a mix of encouragement and caution, I approached the source of the sound, ready to face whatever lay beyond.

The silence of the hallway was shattered by a chilling, all-too-familiar sound that made my blood run cold—the unmistakable clatter of teeth, followed by the grotesque noise of something being devoured with primal fervour.

My hand trembled slightly as I inched closer to the open doorway of my neighbour's room, the beam of my phone's flashlight cutting through the darkness, revealing a scene so macabre it seemed ripped from the pages of a horror novel.

The livestream viewers, now silent witnesses to the unfolding nightmare, watched through the lens of my makeshift body cam.

The light revealed a gruesome trail of blood and entrails leading to a figure hunched over another—the former a woman, her back to us, engaged in the unthinkable act of feasting on the latter, a man who lay motionless beneath her.

The scant clothing on their bodies suggested a night that had taken a turn from the ordinary to the unimaginable.

The sight was so shocking, so viscerally repulsive, that I felt bile rise in my throat.

A strangled "The fuck is this?" escaped my lips, a sentiment echoed by the flood of comments pouring in from the viewers, their shock and horror mirroring my own.

[**NinjaPenguin42**: "Holy shit, Andy, is this real? What are we looking at?"]

[**CookieMonster123**: "That's not... She can't be... Andy, you need to get out of there NOW."]

The urgency in their messages was palpable, a chaotic mix of fear, disbelief, and the instinctive urge to flee from danger.

But my feet were rooted to the spot, a morbid fascination holding me in place even as every fibre of my being screamed to turn and run.

[**GalacticGecko**: "This has to be some sick prank. Tell me this is a prank, Andy."]

[**LlamaDelRey**: "Call the cops, Andy. This isn't something you can handle."]

Their words, usually a source of comfort and camaraderie, now felt like distant echoes in the face of the unspeakable horror before me.

The reality of the situation was sinking in, a stark reminder of the fragility of the world we knew and the dark, unpredictable nature of the one we were now facing.

With a deep, steadying breath, I backed away slowly, the need to preserve my own safety finally overpowering the shock that had held me captive.

The livestream, my unintended audience to this nightmare, bore witness as I retreated, the weight of their collective gaze a heavy burden as I grappled with the decision of what to do next.
