Jack suddenly considered a limitation on his Celestial's Eye. Today was the first time he had used its power continuously, and he suspected he might have overused it. He recalled using the identification ability three times. If the Celestial's Eye had a daily limit, then three could be the maximum number of uses per day. Of course, there could be other reasons, but he couldn't be certain until tomorrow when he could test it again.
Though the identification power was currently unavailable, Jack wasn't overly concerned. The auction was primarily about rough stones, and his x-ray vision still functioned. With that, he could still make a fortune.
Jack waited patiently, but his x-ray vision remained active, unintentionally revealing the figure of a woman. He couldn't help but notice her full chest and the revealing red lingerie beneath her dress. His throat felt dry as he stared.
Suddenly, Leo nudged him, jolting Jack from his daze. He almost yelped.
Leo chuckled, shaking his head. "Don't stare like that, kid. That woman's not ordinary," he warned in a low voice.
Jack quickly regained his composure. "Who is she?" he asked.
"Her name's Cherry. She's well-known around here. Her jade business is huge, and she runs another major operation," Leo replied, his tone becoming more serious.
"What kind of operation?" Jack asked, curious.
Leo paused before asking, "Have you heard of the Dark Building?"
Jack frowned and shook his head. "No, I haven't."
Leo leaned in and whispered, "The Dark Building is famous among the upper class. It's more than just a restaurant. People go there to discuss shady business—things no one wants in the open. It's extremely exclusive. You need more than just money to get in; you need power and influence. If you qualify, you'll get an invitation."
Jack was taken aback. He had no idea such a place existed. "Uncle Leo, can you get into the Dark Building?" he asked.
Leo smiled knowingly, his answer clear without words.
As they continued talking, the appetizers were cleared, and the main auction began. Over ten pieces of raw stone were lined up for bidding, with starting prices of a million each. Jack knew this auction was a high-stakes gamble—either you struck gold, or you lost a fortune in a heartbeat.
Leo was eager to bid, but most people, including him, held back on the first stone. Still, the first rough stone sold for an astounding four million. Jack used his x-ray vision to examine it and saw too many impurities inside. He knew it wasn't worth the price. Sure enough, when the stone was cut, the result was disappointing, and the bidder sat back in defeat.
The second stone was auctioned off next, and despite the earlier loss, the crowd's enthusiasm grew. Leo was ready to bid but hesitated. He turned to Jack. "What do you think about this one?" he asked.
Jack took a quick look with his Celestial Eyes and smiled. "Uncle Leo, if you're patient, something better will come."
Leo nodded and waited. The second stone sold for 3.7 million—slightly less than the first, but still an impressive sum. When it was opened, the stone was good but only worth around a million, leaving the bidder with a significant loss.
Leo grinned. "Good thing I listened to you. I would've been the one losing money."
The third and fourth stones passed without any action from Leo or Jack. But when the fifth stone was brought up, Jack blinked in surprise.
Jack looked at Leo, and he was looking at stone. He took out his phone and began to search online. He saw that there was red gem type thing inside the stone but he doesn't know the worth. After few seconds, he understands the value of the red gem.
"Uncle Leo, if you're going to bid, take this one!" Jack said.
Leo looked at Jack, intrigued. "You think this one's good?"
"Yeah," Jack replied confidently. "It feels special. Trust me on this."
Leo already trusted Jack's judgment. Smiling, he casually pressed the bidding button at four million.
The bidding war slowed down as fewer people continued to raise the price. Leo remained calm as the price climbed slowly, and Jack was sure they had a gem in hand.
