I came to an halt in front of Kiba and Akamaru.
He was my opponent in the preliminary exam.

Kiba was not that incompetent
"Both the opponents ready ?"
I nodded. But Kiba, instead of saying yes, started to sniff the air. Akamaru copied his actions.
Suddenly he grinned.
"I am ready." Kiba said confidently.
I didn't know what he was planning, but his actions put me on guard. As far as I know, mostly inuzuka clan members relies on their taijutsu to fight. The ninjutsu they have, mostly based on tracking. So I was confident in beating him.
But he sniffed the air before grinning. So it must be something he has smelled in the air.
'Should I take the same approach as Hinata trying to finish kiba as soon as possible ? It's for the best. I can't be too cautious. I already have adaptation. I won't hesitate !'
"Alright, the third match of the preliminary exam begin !" With Hayate's approval, I quickly went through some hand seals.
It is the first time I was using the jutsu in combat.
The paralysis gas jutsu was a very useful jutsu.
It is a C rank ninjutsu, commonly taught to the medic nins. It doesn't have any offensive effect except for paralysis.
The way this Jutsu works is really simple. A medic nin has to prepare two chemicals which will create a paralysis effect when combined.
Then they have to hide those chemicals, packing in small containers, inside their mouths.
Then finally using a wind type jutsu, they have to combine the chemicals inside their mouth while stopping it from entering their own lungs simultaneously. After that the fire the chemicals into the air which creates a paralysis effect among the enemy.
When I saw that Kiba is going to be my opponent, I decided to use this trick and put the prepared chemical containers in my mouth.
Compared to the poison gas jutsu used by Sizune in the canon, the paralysis gas jutsu was practically harmless.
Kiba was smart enough to realise that something is wrong. So he immediately jumped back creating distance between us. The poisonous paralysis gas started to disperse in the air, losing it's concentration.
"Poisonous gas ? Those tricks are not going to work on me !" Kiba stated loudly.
'Maybe not that smart.' I thought to myself. Due to the changes in Hinata, Kiba has become physically stronger. But that's all the growth he has gained.
I calmly created chakra scaples at the age of my palm. I was not going to use the sword as I didn't want to harm him.
"Let's go Akamaru !....Huh ? AKAMARU !"
'Well it seems like it is not a complete waste.'
The time Kiba took in between, my paralysis gas reaching him and him jumping back was enough for his puppy to inhale some of them. A little amount wouldn't harm someone like Kiba, but a small puppy like Akamaru, it is a different matter.
He didn't respond to Kiba's command. Or it should be better to say that he couldn't.
I didn't wait for Kiba to gather himself back and attacked immediately.
Pressing forward, I decided to go in full speed. But to my surprise, Kiba managed to barely dodge it.
Considering that he is the teammate of Hinata, who was faster than even Sasuke and Naruto, I am not that surprised. But I didn't need speed to defeat Kiba. A moment after I passed beside him, his knees started to buckle as he came to his knees. I would have given him a chance to win, but in a time limited match it would be foolish to give your opponent time to prepare.
"What the ! What the hell !" Kiba panicked and took out a handful of kunai knives and threw at me. His aim was impressive. But I was faster. I took out my sword and immediately deflected them with my other hand.
I didn't give him anytime to attack me anymore and seathing my sword, I pressed forward.
But a surprise was awaiting me. Suddenly a paralyzed Akamaru attacked me from Kiba's pocket.
I was really surprised. The attack was not that fast as Akamaru was attacking in his base puppy form.
But it was enough to distract me for a microsecond. Kiba, despite losing his footing, took out another kunai knife and tried to attack me.
It was a good planning. His teamwork with his puppy partner was really impressive. Considering that he came up with such a sneak attack in such a short time was also very impressive. It would have worked perfectly. But Kiba underestimated me. And that was his main flaw.
I immediately drew my sword and used it to deflect both of their attack and slash kiba across his chest. My attack completely knocked out Akamaru and kiba was also knocked back.
I immidiately pressed forward and wrapped my sword around his neck. Acting like a whip, my sword, was really sharp.
I didn't have to ask Kiba to admit defeat, as Hayate called me out as the winner in the very next moment.
"And the winner of the third match is Haruno Sakura !"
