Chapter 1 - Second Chance

In a white space of nothingness, completely isolated from everything else in existence, a conversation never heard before by living beings took place. A conversation between a human and a goddess.

A conversation between the soul of a dead human and an almost omnipotent goddess of creation! Have you ever wondered what happens after death? The answer is easier to guess than one would think.

There is a chance you won't even be surprised by this answer: The soul leaves the earthly body and gains a second chance in another world. This is what happens to everyone after death.

Our main character, Leo, is not an exception. The sole reason he is being kept in a white expanse of nothingness is nothing more than the whim of a goddess. The goddess of creation, Enriel, whose free time is eternal and her boredom is hardly ever sated.

She looked toward the new soul with a hint of curiosity and amusement. Most souls are full of questions and feelings, but this one seems to remain calm in front of this life-altering mystery. The goddess' curiosity was piqued, and she decided to enjoy herself a little. A talk with one of her creations could prove interesting.

"Welcome to my sanctuary. How do you like it?"

"Interesting, I could get used to this body, but what am I doing here?"

Replied Leo with a question as he looked toward the weird girl, not knowing her real identity. He couldn't be blamed for this, though, as the girl before him was the prime example of a weirdo.

Knee-length black hair paired with unusual, pitch-black eyes. Contact lenses? Leo couldn't tell even after taking a second glance. Her spotless white skin was covered with black techwear.

Sweatpants with countless pockets and a small hoodie that failed to hide her slim waist. What's more, a black tattoo ran across her whole left side. This exciting fashion sense was exactly Leo's type.

"Damn girl, you're a trendsetter. Wanna hang out after you explain the current situation?"

Asked Leo from the mysterious girl without a shred of shame.

"You're overstepping your boundaries, but that's expected since you don't know who stands before you. I guess it's time for introductions. Your name is Leo, and my name is Enriel. I'm a being your race prefers to call a goddess."

"Long story short, the reason you ended up here is nothing more because you died. You're currently in your soul form and about to inhabit a new body in another world. I'm sort of responsible for sending you there. Anyway, souls usually don't get to meet me, but I made an exception since I got bored. Let's talk."

Leo was a little taken aback by all the information, especially when she decided to introduce both of them. It seems Enriel doesn't need introductions as she knows everyone or at least that is what Leo concluded.

He was about to reply to Enriel when the white space started shaking, and a crack formed behind him. This made Leo realize that this white space had walls.

"Hurry up, we don't have much time left. Talking with souls is strictly forbidden. Higher beings can't intervene in the cycle of life and death. Each of us asks one question, and that's it. You go first."

"Alright, I have many questions, but since you seem to be in a hurry, I guess I'll just ask one. Are you ready for my question?"

"Yes, hurry!"

Yelled the goddess at Leo with a frustrated voice. Countless years of solitude twisted her personality, but this soul in front of her was just as unusual. Was he just an idiot who didn't understand the situation, or did he lack common sense?

"Okay, okay, I'm not stalling anymore. Here is my question: I'm found in socks, scarves, and mittens, and often in the paws of playful kittens. What am I?"

Enriel tried to guess it for a few seconds but soon realized that Leo was being a butthole.

"I'M TELLING YOU TO HURRY UP, AND THE ONLY QUESTION YOU CAN USE TO FIND OUT SOMETHING USEFUL IS WASTED ON THIS F*CKING RIDDLE?! YOU THINK BEING RETARDED ON PURPOSE IS FUNNY? HUH???"

"Hehehe, you can't guess this much? I'm not telling you, though."

"I'm so done with you! NO MORE questions. I'm just going to satisfy my boredom and send you away before my brain melts. Now, don't move."

Enriel suddenly disappeared, and Leo took a second to find out where she had gone. Sadly, it was way too late to run away. Enriel was holding him in her hands with a smug grin.

"I'm just going to take a peek at your memories and let you go after that. I bet you were a helpless loser with a personality like this."

Enriel's hand started glowing as she held Leo. The process took a few seconds, and Leo didn't feel anything as it happened. However, Enriel quickly tossed him aside once the light emitted by her hands dimmed out.

Her disgusted face told Leo everything about her opinion.

"As you just saw, the situation was complicated. How was I supposed to escape?"

Leo tried to calm her down, but the attempt was futile.

"YOU! You actually managed to drown in the blood of your enemies!? I can't let someone like you transmigrate without punishment! I ought to make your next life harder."

"Wait, wait, wait! I thought interfering with such things was not allowed. Didn't you say it was forbidden to interfere with the cycle or something like that? You're going to regret this decision!"

Leo tried to reason with Enriel, but she was enraged. Her only flaws as a goddess were her intense emotional spikes.

"I don't care anymore! I will be fine as long as the other divines don't know about it. In the worst-case scenario, I will receive my punishment and atone for a few hundred years. I'll give you the weakest ability for the sins you committed in your previous life. Good luck, bottom feeder!"

"Wai—"

"OFF YOU GOOO!"

Leo wanted to talk, but the crazed Enriel sent her to the other world with a well-aimed punch.
