Chapter 27 - The investigation team arrives

Professor McGonagall's prediction was spot on. Although the notification letter Anthony received stated nine o'clock, people from the Ministry of Magic did not arrive at school until after ten o'clock.

Three people came. The leader of the investigation team, like the Ministry of Magic officials he remembered, could only hear what he wanted to hear. There was also an Auror, whom he recognized as the wizard who escorted him to Azkaban. The Auror kept his hand on his wand all the time - Anthony hesitated to remind him that it was best to attack the necromancer by sneak attack. Accompanying them was a newcomer in the probationary period, who was responsible for recording their conversations while staring at a magic quill.

In addition, he also met an unexpected person: Ollivander.

"Mr. Ollivander will help the Ministry of Magic examine your wand," Professor McGonagall explained, "but he will not participate in the investigation."

Anthony happily handed the wand to Ollivander, fully trusting Ollivander's professionalism with the wand. No matter how much the Ministry of Magic wanted him to be able to hold the wand and identify Anthony on the spot as having cast the Troll Summoning Charm - whatever it was - Ollivander would never lie.

The wandmaker rubbed his wand and frowned.

"It's not happy," Ollivander said, looking at Anthony accusingly with his silver eyes.

Anthony asked doubtfully: "What do you mean?"

"You neglected it, sir," Ollivander said softly. "It doesn't like the path of magic you've chosen, but it's loyal to you. That makes it melancholy."

Anthony then realized that the power of his spell had become less powerful not because of neglect of practice, but because the wand was broken. He still remembered the warm feeling of completion when he touched the wand in the wand shop, and how it happily cooperated with his every practice. Now it is slowly withering from a companion to a stick.

Anthony asked: "Can it be remedied?"

"It's not that bad. Coax it more." Ollivander said, "It likes you very much, don't let it down."

"Got it." Anthony took back his wand and stroked the silver shaft. Ollivander told him the same thing when he got his wand on the first day, but he didn't understand it at the time.

Ollivander turned to look at his investigation team expectantly and shook his head: "Despite becoming melancholy, the core of his staff has not yet needed to be replaced. Its owner has not yet lost itself in the desire to kill."

"Okay." The leader of the investigation team said with a straight face, "But the questioning still needs to be conducted. He may just have used someone else's wand."

Anthony originally wanted to invite the investigative team to his office, but they acted as if he was inviting them to hell.

Finally, with the help of Professor McGonagall, they found an empty classroom and locked the door. A few students turned their heads curiously to look at them as they passed by, but they all quickly disappeared at the end of the corridor under Professor McGonagall's stern gaze.

"There are lamb chops today," Professor McGonagall said before walking out of the classroom. "You won't want to miss it, Professor Anthony."

Anthony laughed.

The leader of the investigation team turned the wooden chair into an office chair, leaned on the back of the chair and asked preemptively: "You know exactly why we called you here, right?"

"Professor McGonagall told me." Anthony nodded and pulled a chair, "You are here to investigate the trolls, right?" Seeing that the Auror and the newcomer were still standing, he pushed them to Open a chair, "Please sit down, would you like some tea?"

"Let's not talk in circles." The team leader did not answer his words, "What are you doing on Halloween?"

"I was in the office and never went out," Anthony said. "Coco from the kitchen is here to deliver food. He can prove it."

"cocoa?"

"Oh, it's the house elf in the kitchen." The newcomer said cheerfully, "The shepherd's pie he makes is the most delicious among all the elves. We have always felt that his magic... I'm sorry, team leader." Her voice Getting smaller and smaller, and blushing after realizing it.

The team leader sighed and ignored her: "House elves cannot serve as witnesses."

"Then there are no witnesses," Anthony said, "but let's think about it this way. Even if I were really planning on hosting a Halloween dinner party - which isn't me, by the way - there wouldn't be a need for a troll. You all know me It's a necromancer, right?" The expressions of the team leader and Auror were hard to predict, but the newcomer's eyes widened in shock, "Oh, wait, someone doesn't know? Sorry."

The Auror couldn't help but ask: "Didn't you read the material, Tonks?"

"I read it, but maybe I didn't pay attention." The newcomer waved his hand and knocked the quill in the record. "Ah, I'm sorry." The magic quill paused for a while, as if hesitating whether to record this ridiculous conversation. .

Anthony smiled at Tonks, who added some fun to the boring inquiry.

"What are you doing in the office?" the team leader asked, trying to get the conversation back on track.

"I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm still a professor at Hogwarts. That's my office." Anthony said expressionlessly.

He learned this from Snape. This is how Snape looked at Anthony when he discovered he knew nothing about potions (Anthony hadn't even bothered to buy a textbook and a cauldron). Anthony interpreted it as "You are more foolish than I can imagine."

The team leader didn't waver: "I'm asking, what are you doing in the office when everyone is enjoying dinner in the lobby?"

"Study magic," Anthony said.

The team leader pressed forward step by step: "What magic? Control the troll? Open the defense of Hogwarts from the inside? Why has your wand become melancholic?"

"Necromantic magic," he said honestly. Tonks gasped and burped.

"We're watching you, Anthony," the team leader said viciously.

A few minutes ago, Anthony pointed out that Ollivander had confirmed that he had nothing to do with the troll. And even if they forcefully take him to Azkaban without any evidence, he can easily escape at any time. Once this fact is put on the table, it means that this inquiry is basically over.

After all, the next step would be to sentence Anthony to death...whether it be beheading or something else. Even if it doesn't start a war of the undead, it still means completely breaking up with Dumbledore.

If they can't find evidence to prove Anthony's crime (I hate necromancy without a wand, the team leader thought bitterly, they deserve to be exterminated), when Hogwarts wants to protect a necromancer, they basically have nothing to do with Anthony. There is no way.

"Of course, of course." Anthony said respectfully, "My door is open to you at any time. If you are interested in Muggle cooking, you are welcome to come to my class next Thursday morning. Of course, you may need to avoid Hogwart defense system. Considering that trolls can do this, I believe you can too."

"Are you questioning the defense system of Hogwarts?" the team leader said sarcastically, "I thought you all firmly believed that Hogwarts is the safest place in the world!"

Anthony shook his head: "When the troll appeared in the underground classroom and you sat across from me - no offense, sir - I knew there was no safety in the wizarding world."
