Chapter 93 - Act II Chapter LVIII

Sylanwood, Road to Stetia Dynasty, Time: 5:00 PM

***************************

Freya and Nina's soldiers were on the road as the horse-drawn wagon led them back to King Nina's kingdom, Ezubaeba. Freya, feeling tired, let out a yawn and covered her mouth with her hand.

"Can't wait to get back and give Bada even more assignments..." She started to daydream about her fantasy, imagining her return home with Bada, who would be wearing an apron and cooking her dinner, and that's when she'd surprise him with a kiss. Her daydream was interrupted when the wagon started shaking, and she asked, "What the hell?"

Freya was confused and soon heard screams and shrieks coming from outside. She swiftly exited the wagon to find the one carrying Alwin had been destroyed, and a figure stood above it. It was Christopher Stirner, holding his grandpa by the collar.

Some of the samurai attempted to attack him, but they were knocked aside by Chris's backhand. Seeing Freya approach with her halberd ready, Chris decided to flee into the forest, taking Alwin with him.

"OI! COME BACK HERE, CHRISTOPHER!" Freya chased after him as the injured samurai regrouped.

As Freya gave chase after Chris, he started to kick up some dust and even chopped down a tree as he fled, creating a cloud of debris that momentarily blinded Freya.

She attempted to shout, "YOU AND YOUR GRANDPA ARE UNDER ARREST," but her words were interrupted by the falling tree that Chris caused.

Freya angrily punched the tree, reducing it to ashes. In the heat of the moment, she lost track of Chris and cursed under her breath as she continued running through the forest.

Meanwhile, Alwin had been thrown near a waterfall, and he coughed a bit. "What took you so long, brat?" he grumbled as Chris approached him.

Chris crouched in front of his furious grandpa. "Sorry, old man, but it seems you can't even run or hide from them for a minute," Chris smirked, and Alwin's anger became even more apparent.

"You brat! At least I am safe from that gorilla woman..." Alwin muttered, still lying near the waterfall.

Chris's grin grew wider as he spoke. "You know, Gramps, I've been thinking..."

Alwin raised an eyebrow, puzzled by his grandson's words. Chris reached behind his back and pulled out a steampunk gun. Without warning, he shot Alwin in his weakened legs.

"YOU BRAT! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Alwin exclaimed, shocked and furious. "Gramps, I want to chase my dreams, my ambitions, and, of course, live my own life in freedom," Chris said, his smirk unwavering.

Just then, Sugar emerged from the shadows of the trees and casually waved at Alwin, further enraging him. "Yo!"

"YOU BRAT! YOU DECIDE AGAINST ME AND TEAM UP WITH THAT WORTHLESS TRASH?!" Alwin couldn't believe that his blood had turned against him.

"Honestly, GV's dream of drowning Sylanwoods in snow and causing the extinction of pinecone dragons is not my dream." Chris playfully smacked his head with the gun like a rhythm.

"You... YOU! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO OBEY ME! I MADE SURE I GOT RID OF THOSE PESKY PARENTS OF YOURS TO SERVE ME!" Alwin, at his wit's end, shouted at Chris.

But Chris, unfazed, pointed the gun at Alwin one last time and muttered only a few words, "Goodbye, fossil." He pulled the trigger, and the gunshot echoed through the forest.

Alwin's lifeless body splashed against the floor of the waterfall, and he lay there, forever still. Chris, his breath slightly faster, couldn't believe what he had just done. He stared at Alwin's lifeless form and muttered, "So, how are you feeling?"

Sugar took the gun away from Chris, and Chris looked at him, still shaken. "I know how it feels to take someone's life, but this feels different..." His hand was trembling, and he felt the weight of what he had done.

Sugar placed a comforting hand on Chris's shoulder and tried to console him, "I understand how difficult it must be to kill your blood. But sometimes, to break free from the chains holding you down, you have to make difficult choices."

At that moment, Freya arrived at the scene and witnessed what had happened. She was visibly shaken and angry as she approached them, holding her halberd. "You damn bastard! What did you d—"

Sugar, seemingly unfazed, walked towards her with a greedy smile and asked about Bada. "Freya! Buddy! How's Bada been doing?"

Freya's anger didn't waver as she clenched her grip on her weapon. "Sugar..."

Sugar tried to justify the situation. "Aw, let's lighten up, shall we? You know that life is always filled with wars. You can't run away from something that is bound to happen in the future."

Her anger flared, and Freya grabbed Sugar's collar. "How the hell am I going to tell Bada that his mentor has gone this insane?!"

"Oh, how I am truly the cruelest! I made someone shoot the old man to death! Even though, he was in cahoots with some of the biggest scum of this world could give out." Sugar stated, that Freya could only keep her silence.

"I know, you guys want to make sure that I will go on that path but I am loyal to her." Sugar knew that they were gonna try to force him to do something in some way but he would not let that go.

But Sugar dismissed her concerns, and Chris began to walk away. As he moved closer, Freya felt a sudden shift in Sugar's aura, which seemed to intensify like he was a personification of death. "This...aura..."

Sugar continued, "In life, you either try to stay innocent, oblivious to the reality of bloodshed or... face the cruel fate of your reality and the inevitable regrets."

The aura she sensed vanished, leaving Freya standing there in shock and confusion. She turned around to find nothing but an empty scene.

Both Sugar and Chris had vanished like a mist, leaving Freya alone with Alwin's blood staining the small pond beneath the waterfall.

Freya decided to call Bada on her VMT, it started to ring for a bit before it was picked up.

"Freya?" Bada stated, "Did you help them out? What happens?" Bada was concerned that she didn't answer first with a quiplash for hers.

"Bada." Freya's eyes started to shadow over and start to silently growl, "He got away again."
