Chapter 17 - Chapter 16

'well isn't this just lovely,' I think as we drive through the empty streets of Tokonosu. It's spring time, the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom. The streets are empty. It's quiet. Peaceful. Moments like these should be cherished. Takashi and Rei are absent. This day can't get any better. Kikyo presses herself against me as she goes back to sleep. It just got better.

Saya isn't very happy about this development however, as seen from her pouting and occasional glare that she sends my way. I have fully decided to commit to the scoundrel route so I wink and blow kisses at her everytime she does. The effects are wondrous. I think I'm in love. Saeko, my other girl, is being shy right now after today's earlier events. She shouldn't worry about these small things, it's just a shirt. I'll make sure she pays for it though.

We shouldn't run into any problems for the greater part of the day so I should just relax drown my sorrows in tirries… is what I would love to do but I need to prepare for the fight that is to come. I make multiple soda can bombs and use the potty breaks we make to resupply on parts.

I heard Rei and Takashi laughing so now I'm pissed. Think their better than us. I'm feeling pretty confident anyway so I decide to take a break by talking to my crew, getting to know more about them, asking Kohta how being rich is and if he looks down on us common folk, teasing Saya whose reactions never fail to make me happy.

"Hey Saya," I ask sweetly.

"What?" she 'begrudgingly' answers me. She is so into me.

"Why don't scientists trust atoms?"

"…why?" what did I say? What more proof do you need?

"Because they make up everything,"

No one laughed. Except for Shizuka. She found it funny but she doesn't count. She makes it so easy to forget that she's smart sometimes.

"You're an idiot,"

"And you love me for it," she scoffs and looks away but I can see that smile she tries to hide when she thinks no one is watching.

"Hey Kohta," I turn to my lieutenant.

"Hmm?"

"Why was the math book sad?"

"Why?"

"Because it had too many problems,"

That one got a laugh out of the little girl. Well what do you know, the stinky brat isn't so bad. Still, it better stay away from me. Stinky brat.

"Saeko, why don't skeletons fight each other?"

"I do not know, perhaps because they are brittle and would break easily?"

"…Because they don't have the guts," I said. This time no one laughed. Not even Shizuka.

Needless to say that game ended shortly afterwards. Between the awkward silence and stares that were being thrown around I kinda wished I was on the roof of the car.

The rest of the ride continued in silence. Where did the zombies go though? I doubt the residents at the Takagi estate were making that much noise or did they know this would happen? How else did they get so many guns anyway? Eh, who cares. I'm just happy I'll have access to them. Even if they did know, them staying behind is actually so dumb that I can forgive them.

Oh there it is, our first zombie sighting of the day. The bastards. If zombies eat people do they also… I mean what goes in must come out right? Oh hell no, I gotta work fast leave these soon to be stinky bastards behind. Clockwork Ninja Training activate.

Shizuka steps up on the gas. I have to wonder, where did she learn how to drive. She's been doing pretty good actually all things considered. This just in, can women drive or is this just anime logic? Stay tuned for more.

We're moving pretty well through the ever growing horde with Saya giving instructions to Shizuka who follows them like a loyal dog. Should we get a dog? Oh right we have one. It's a little on the smaller side but maybe that means he won't eat as much? I don't know.

I can see a barbed wire that's blocking our path ahead and can't help but feel nostalgic about the future.

"Shizuka, watch out!"

Shizuka hits the breaks and swerves the Humvee. Hard. So much so that the main character goes through some character development by trauma. Blunt trauma. She falls off the car hits the ground harder than your grades in high school after a certain point.

I chortled. I couldn't hold it in. This is one of the most satisfying moments I have experienced since I came here. Anyway, time to fight. I should use the soda can bombs, have us all enjoy of having me on our side but I decide against it. These people need to learn how to fight against insurmountable odds. That and they(Takashi) can't shoot for shit. It's good practice. I believe in throwing people in the deep end if you want them to learn how to swim. Happened to me and I turned out great, now I swim like an athlete and this was before I got upgrades.

"Kohta, up top now, you're on sniper support,"

"sir,"

"Saya, do you want to know how to use a gun?"

"I've never shot one before,"

"No time like the present, I always say,"

"You never say that,"

"Just take the damn gun,"

"Saeko, how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine,"

"Good, don't over exert yourself,"

"Stinky brat,"

"hey!"

"Fetch ammo for Kohta, he'll show you which one,"

"Y-yes sir,"

"Shizuka, kill the engine, we're gonna be here a while,"

I get out of the car and throw a soda can bomb.

"Takashi, please take your girlfriend to the safety of the car,"

And so objective: survive is in order. The shotgun is bae fr. I love watching zombie heads Go boom. I'm glad they're not real people or something would be seriously wrong with me. I probably have some system to keep me from going crazy but it really makes you wonder. I will kill people soon. Shido, that one guy who tried to rape Shizuka, Shido's lackey perhaps. I won't lose sleep over their deaths. I don't consider those people as people. Thoughts for another time.

We're doing pretty well all things considered. After some quick instruction from yours truly, Saya is doing a pretty ok job. I instructed Kohta to support Saeko. She's great but still human. At least I'm not the only one enjoying this. She's really impressive. Even more so that I can understand what she's doing now. I can do that too. Fuck I'm overpowered. Thank you Jesus.

A few hours pass, and things are looking pretty shitty right now. I'm out of ammo. So is Saya, Kohta is trying to get the stinky brat to jump the fence and she's refusing. She's pretty smart for her age. Still stinky though. Saeko and I are handling the brunt of the horde and we're doing an okay job all things considered. Takashi took my earlier instruction too literally and didn't come back outside for the fight. Opting to play nurse without the nurse. You'll get yours. I promise you.

I think it about time I conquered Saeko best girl. She's loyal, hot and a fucking unit in the battlefield. A fine addition to my collection.

"We're never gonna make it,"

I said and I can see the despair in their eyes. Especially stinky brat.

"We'll split up, Saeko you're with me, Saya, you're in charge. Kohta keep doing what you're doing. Kikyo, with Shizuka," I get reluctant nods all round. Those who try to speak up get my soon to be famous main character glare. I don't have time for this right now.

"be sure to stay quiet until help arrives, they should come considering all the noise we made. We'll meet up with you soon,"

I throw two bombs in different directions, causing the horse to disperse lightly. With the reduced pressure at the front, we dash forward Saeko and I. We compliment each other pretty well if I do say so myself. The undead put up little challenge so we make good time. We follow up with some more noise making antics. I use my cellphone for the last time probably to play some loud music. Hit the metallic pole a few times with my enhanced strength, and throw a few soda can bombs at the horde that is turning it's attention towards us.

We use the stairs on the side of the streets to get away from the zombies. Our destination for the night is the shrine. Upgrades, but first the Auto shop I saw earlier, my wardrobe needs a massive upgrade.
