Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 7

"... and that's why I should be your leader," Shido finishes and take a bow.

"well that's a fucking lie," I whisper to Saeko. She chuckles. I don't think she'd keen on the idea. I look to the others and I can tell, no one at least no one who's on my side is keen on it. Rei is even more against it. She's freaking fuming right now, I'm really enjoying the expression on her face. Calm down black heart of mine.

I really don't like this girl. And I know that in some twisted way, I agree with her actions to a certain extent. Takashi stepped up when her boyfriend died. And she doesn't really trust anyone else as much. Of course she would be glued to him now more than ever. That's a given I have no problem with that. In this world we all need a reason to keep going. My problem comes from her main character syndrome. I'll get to witness it in its full glory. Shame I don't have any snacks with me.

Takashi, I wonder what went through his head at the time he killed Hisashi. On one hand it is his best friend on the other he loves the girl he's with. So much so that he was depressed and didn't want to go to class. Perhaps at the time he was truly remorseful of his actions. But nobody will lie to me and say he isn't having a new year's level celebration in his head and heart. Finally after all this time she was his, all that was keeping them apart was Hisashi who's gone now.

Love blooms in the apocalypse. Thinking about how some dudes still won't get the girl even if the world was ending almost puts another nasty smile on my face. I'm a terrible man. Just give up dude, if she says she's not interested, she isn't. this is one of those situations where the term ' if you love her you'll let her go' is applicable. You'll find someone else. Someone who loves you for you. If possible find someone who loves you first or more then fall in love with them. Feelings that are left unreciprocated are the worst.

Back to the matter at hand, it's been a while now, we know the issue is worldwide and life is looking pretty bleak right now. Morale is at an all time low. I have to do something. I turn to Kikyo who's sitting some ways behind us and I beckon her over. Her eyes were already on me so it's easy. I'm glad I didn't have to call her while she pretended to ignore me. Hate when that happens.

"hey, how are you holding up?" you begin by showing concern for their well being. Even better if it's genuine.

"better than before, what did you need?" she doesn't want to talk about it now but I'll find some time to unload with her. I am responsible for making her abandon her students in their time of need. I don't need that stress in her head making her kill herself in the middle of the night(just call my name I'm yours to…) Stop that!

Leaving aside my inability to be serious for two seconds. I ask her to gather the rest of the crew at the front of the bus. We need a plan of action, and I'm just the guy for the job.

"okay I'll say this once, cause we don't have much time, we are definitely not spending the night with Shido over there,"

"wait you want to leave the bus? Are you an idiot?" Saya, how lucky you are I fancy you. In real life you shouldn't take such disrespect nor should you disrespect others, but I get that she is a genius, their brains are wired differently but more importantly, this isn't the real world. There are undead walking around for crying out loud. Societal norms be damned.

"ok I'm gonna keep it very real with you, there are only two reasons he's making moves to make himself leader. Number one, to have bait for the undead and number two, to pressure them into fulfilling his carnal needs," at my words the faces of multiple girls turn sour at the thought. It's good to see that they don't deny it, that makes my job way easier. Ironically thank you Shido.

"so what do you suggest instead? You can't possibly be thinking that we should travel on foot with these… these things everywhere," Kikyo speaks up this time around. Clearly against the idea.

"actually that's exactly what I'm thinking, I'm willing to take my chances with the monsters outside rather than spend a night in close proximity with the one inside if you catch my drift. We'll need rest anyway, we can't do that if we're constantly watching our backs around them,"

"no, that's a terrible idea" I turn my head to Takashi, oh boy here we go.
