Chapter 1 - I died.

Ahhhhhhh!

I hear a scream my head turns as fast as possible almost breaking my neck.

I see a woman screaming her bag dropped my eyes quickly notice what was happening her child ran into the street going after her ball.

My heart rate spikes through the roof adrenaline courses throughout my body and before my brain can issue any commands my body started moving on it's own.

The little boy about 7 years old possibly younger runs after his ball unaware of the danger.

The sports car zoomed through the road his eyes opened wide he sees the child dart across the road he hits the breaks as hard as he could.

The car screeches as it tries to slow down but the driver notices a man grab the child and wraps his body around the kid to protect him.

Boom! the man's body is struck with incredible force as he is launched into a parked vehicle denting the door. He collapses and from his arms a child falls out unconscious.

The mother screams , the crowed screams the driver panics but he gets out of his vehicle to check on the man and boy.

The driver rushes towards the child first and noticed he was still breathing banged up but breathing he was being held tightly by the man. The driver takes a small sigh of relief and turns towards the man.

He quickly notices that the man isn't moving his chest was still and then me noticed that his head was bent in an unnatural angle.

The driver notices that the man has the boy in a tight grip afraid of letting go which seems to have protected the boy from major injury.

The mother quickly runs towards the driver ,the man and her son.

"Is my son alright?" she asked shakily.

He seems alright but let's not move him and let's wait for an ambulance. Last thing we want to do is hurt the child by moving him.

The mother quickly notices the condition of the man's head.

Is he. Is he dead? She asked nervously.

I'm afraid so. He sacrificed himself saving your son. He's a hero.

Tears flowed from her eyes. Soon enough she heard the sounds from an ambulance in the distance.

Surrounded by white the man looked around and saw nothing.

"I guess I died" He mumbled to himself.

"You sure did" a slightly feminine voice sounded out and a woman with red hair appeared out of the void.

Her hair was in a bob cut and she had emerald colored eyes. She was tall much taller than he was.

Her skin was a healthy shade of light brown.

The man was gobbed smacked at how tall she was. She was easily double his height and he was 5"10'.

Well then mister. Congratulations are in order you died heroically. It doesn't happen as often as people think especially in your world.

Let's take a look at your file. She flipped her hand and a stack of papers appeared in her hand.

How interesting. For a mortal you have a surprising amount of merit.

You get 1,000 merits for sacrificing yourself in order to save the boy,500 for being filial and taking care of your parents in their old age, you created a non profit organization that helps children with terminal illnesses pass peacefully which nets you 5,000 and in your will when you passed away all the money you had made was donated to many organizations that fought against cancer , mental illness and veterans.

My father was a vet and I seen how our government takes care of those that come back from war. They are not seen as heroes that sacrificed their physical health and mental health so that our society can continue to exist. How can I not help? Especially when I have personally seen how it can affect a person. The man said.

I have no particular interest in soldiers they are tools used by governments and kingdoms all throughout the universe and multiverse. I do feel sorry for those tossed away like garbage when they sacrificed all they had tho. The bobed haired woman said.

Life is fickle like that. When you're useful you are prioritized and when you're not you are discarded very quickly. The man said.

Perhaps there is truth in what you said but who decides who is useful? It shouldn't be others who decide that for you, it should be you who decide your own value.

Perhaps it's as you say. The man stood there and though for a moment.

We as humans somewhat have an Intrinsic value depending on our birth and other societal factors but we also see our value in how much we contribute to our families and our society. I set up that nonprofit to help those kids rest as peacefully as possible in their final moments and I think that added value to my life. The value wasn't monetary but spiritual and I find that it was worth it.

It indeed was worth it. I am here to grant you an offer. One that isn't granted too often by me. I would like to reincarnate you into another world.

What reason would I have to reincarnate? He asked the goddesses.

As a reward of course and I need your help to make things better. The world I want to reincarnate you into is stagnant and I would appreciate any help you can give it.

"I am not a fighter."the man said.

I am not asking for a warrior or soldier. I want you to live your life and give something a push. It could be medicine, crafting, story telling, anything. I just want my world to keep advancing and any advancement is welcome. Of course I would prefer non violent advancement but anything is fine.

He thought for a moment and said to the goddesses." Going to another world would be a nice form of retirement." He then chuckled to himself. I agree to reincarnate Ms goddesses.

She then saw a radiant smile form on her face and was taken aback for a second before he regained composure.

My name is Vespa and I shall be your patron.

She raised her hand and summoned a staff which was ornate. It had silver bells on a loop and a long purple shift. She then slammed it down and a spell formation appeared underneath the man. She spoke in a language that he had never heard before and a small ball of light entered the man's chest and then he disappeared.
