"I'll do it!"
Mika pauses at the door, her hand still on the handle. The words hang in the air for a moment before she turns to face me, eyes wide with both curiosity and caution. The silence feels heavier now, charged with the weight of my decision.
"What do you mean?"
She asks, her voice steady, but there's a glimmer of disbelief in her eyes.
"I'll do it."
I repeat, my voice is firmer this time. The words sound almost foreign to me, but deep down, I know it's the only choice I have left. We can't drag this out any longer.
"I'll go along with your plan. I'll pretend I'm having an affair with Chris. But you need to understand, this has to work. It has to shake Price to her core, get her to show her true self. I can't afford to lose more ground to her."
Mika doesn't respond right away. She studies me, as if she's weighing my resolve, then slowly nods.
"I think you're right."
She says quietly.
