As I pull up to Zayn's place, my heart is still racing from the drive. One of the staff meets me at the door, telling me that Lana is already with the doctor and a few nurses in her room. I let out a sigh, half relieved but still tense, knowing how Kattie must be feeling right now.
Inside, the atmosphere is heavy with a quiet tension. I can't see Kattie yet, but I know she's somewhere nearby, probably pacing with worry. I feel a pang of guilt for not being here sooner and wonder how Lana's doing—dramatic as ever, no doubt, but still, it's intense knowing she could be bringing a baby into the world right now.
I brace myself, steadying my breathing, before heading further inside to find Kattie.
I find Kattie in the main bedroom, sitting at the edge of the bed, hands clasped tightly, eyes fixed on the floor. She doesn't notice me at first, lost in her thoughts. I approach gently, giving her shoulder a squeeze before sitting beside her.
