Today is the big day. I am going to leave Candy with my kids and Lana because Zayn and I are heading to the safe house.
We'll be keeping Jack's children and their grandmother there. Mrs. Susan has decided she wants to act like she's also been kidnapped because Jack would want to take her and torture her to find out where his children are.
She's afraid he knows when she's lying, and this way, she can help us while staying safe.
"Are you sure about this?"
Candy asks, a hint of concern in her voice.
"Absolutely. We have to protect the kids and Mrs. Susan. She agreed to this plan."
I reply, trying to sound more confident than I feel.
Lana scoffs behind us, causing me to slightly jump. Why is she sneaking behind us like this? She is clearly still upset about being left behind.
"And what am I supposed to do here? Just sit around?"
"Exactly."
I snap back.
"Stay out of trouble for once."
"To hell with that!"
