Chris guides us back inside. I am grateful for the opportunity to rest and regroup after the tension of the past few hours.
He gestures for us to take a seat, assuring us that Sally will join us shortly. With a sigh of relief, I sink into the plush cushions, feeling the weight of exhaustion settling in my bones.
"She went showering , shouldn't be long."
"Don't worry Chris , we'll wait."
Candy responds as she sits more comfortably. We were locked up in that car for way too long. Chris should improve his methods. They take too much effort.
Candy and I exchange weary smiles as we settle in, the tension of the previous encounter slowly melting away in the warmth of the cozy room. Chris disappears to freshen up, leaving us to wait in comfortable silence.
As we wait, Sally reappears with a tray of drinks, her expression softening as she offers them to us.
"I thought you might need these."
She says, her tone apologetic.
