Chapter 60 - LATE

This morning, I received a text from Dante, asking me to accompany him to his legal business. He instructed me to dress nicely, but I didn't understand why I had to follow him. Nevertheless, I agreed to meet him at the garage at 9:00 am.

With 20 minutes to spare, I headed to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee. Instead, I made tea and reheated a sandwich from the previous day. I felt a mix of excitement and worry when Dante mentioned visiting his branch hotel.

After eating, I got dressed in a pink crop top, joggers, and white sneakers, and grabbed a black handbag. I added a touch of makeup, applying lipstick and a light dusting of pink powder on my cheeks. I finished my look with a spritz of mouth perfume and a rough bun.

Just as I was about to leave, my phone beeped, signaling a missed call from Dante. He followed up with a text, asking where I was. I glanced at the time and realized it was already 9:20 am. Panicked, I rushed to the garage to meet Dante.

When I arrived, Dante was leaning against the car, looking worried and checking his phone. "I'm so sorry I'm late," I apologized. He looked up, relieved, and said, "I thought you weren't going to come."

"I wasn't looking at the time," I explained. Dante's expression changed as he took in my outfit. "Is this what you're wearing?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. I nodded, and he replied, "In that case, we might stop at a boutique for you to get a new look."

I was taken aback. "Why? I like the way I look," I said. Dante smiled and explained, "You look too casual, and as my girlfriend, I want you to look your best when you're by my side."

The way he said "girlfriend" sent a flutter through my chest. Dante held my hand and opened the back door for me. "What are you doing? I'm supposed to drive, right?" I asked, pulling my hand away.

Dante chuckled and replied, "Not today, darling. You should sit back and relax with me. I've arranged for someone else to drive us today." He helped me into the car and slid in beside me. The driver, who had been waiting, got into the front seat and drove us away.
