Chapter 71 - Chapter 71

|3rd POV|

While Viserys and his people are busy repairing the city and preparing the attack against Tyrosh, Stannis has already arrived in King's Landing. He and the other members of the small council gather together. They are waiting for the king to arrive.

When Robert arrives in the room, he immediately looks at his brother and says,

"How is it, Stannis? Do you manage to kill the white-haired bastard?"

Stannis shakes his head.

"No. My army could not penetrate their formation even with the help of an ambush. However, we managed to kill at least a hundred of them in our attack."

"Bah! A hundred?! You disappoint me once again, Stannis. You can't even take a single job and do it right. What a disappointment."

Stannis grits his teeth but keeps his expression as he holds back anger. He already expects this scenario to happen, but it still makes him angry.

"Now, Robert. Let him tell the full story."

"Bah, fine! Tell us what you saw."

Stannis takes a deep breath and nods.

"The Solaris Kingdom has at least two thousand soldiers in their army, as that is the estimated number of soldiers I saw. Not only that but all of their soldiers are also equipped with armor. Most of them have leather armor, but a good chunk of them wear iron armor. The majority of them use iron weapons, but some of them use steel."

"What about the Targaryen?"

Stannis looks at Jon and says.

"He is leading his army from the front. He is wearing weird blue full armor and uses a war hammer in battle. He is also good at archery. He managed to kill ten people using his bow and arrow."

Jon nods and makes a note in his mind with that information.

"What about their city?"

"I don't know how Stellaris City is, but the Gurlian city is well-defended. I have a very tall wall. It is so tall we need to double the standard ladder we usually use in siege. It is also thick. Myr's siege engine cannot destroy the wall quickly enough in the siege because of it. The city also has four square towers on each corner of the city. Two of them are watching the sea while the rest of them are watching the land."

Robert looks at Stannis and gets interested in the discussion involving war.

"Can we attack from the sea?"

Stannis shakes his head.

"No. That is impossible. Solaris built a bridge and wall between their two cities. That is the reason why Tyrosh cannot reinforce Myr when the battle starts."

"That means we can only attack from land, huh?"

Jon looks at Robert and Stannis for a second before saying.

"We can use Tyrosh or Myr as a gathering point and march from there. Tyrosh is the nearest to us, but Myr is safer and bigger. We can ask for their help when it is time for us to attack them."

Robert is itching to declare war, but even he knows the time is not right. War needs preparation, and he is not stupid enough to attack without it.

"What about their ships?"

Jon Arryn looks at Stannis with a serious expression. He already promises Robert a war, and seeing the win after winning the Solaris Kingdom, he knows it will happen sooner or later.

"Their ships are stronger than ours. It is a lot stronger. They are harder to set on fire and harder to destroy using a ram. However, they have one weakness that we can exploit. They are slower. Even with the help of the wind, they are slower than our ships. We can use that weakness to maneuver around their ships and board them. We don't need to ram our ship into them. We only need to get closer and board them."

Jon nods his head. He doesn't have any intention to do a naval battle, but he needs to prepare in case they get into a naval battle.

"Thank you for the information, Stannis. Now, let's move to the next matter."

"I am done! I will not stay here counting copper!"

Jon can only sigh and watch as Robert leaves the room. He can only let him leave and look at the Master of Coin.

"How is the treasury, Petyr?"

Oberyn Martell looks at his brother with confusion on his face.

"Are you sure you want to do this, brother?"

Doran Martell takes a sip of the wine and looks at his brother.

"Of course, little brother. He is the son of Rhaegar and the true heir of the kingdom."

"Just like how Viserys Targaryen is the heir of the kingdom. Aegon might have the stronger tie to the Iron Throne, but Viserys has the army. Not only that, I also hear about them having dragons on their side."

Doran waves his hand and says.

"That is just a rumor, brother. Dragons are gone and will never return. Even when they return, Aegon will have a chance to take the dragon for himself."

Oberyn looks at his brother with doubt.

"I don't like this, brother. Even though Aegon is the son of Rhaegar, that man was not a king when he died. The true heir is Viserys because he is the second son of the Mad King. I don't think our vessels are willing to put their banner to Aegon."

"What do you want to say, brother? Do you not want your nephew to sit on the Iron Throne?"

"I do. However, I don't want him to fight his uncle and us to fight our own Good-Brother."

"You don't need to worry, Oberyn. I am already planning everything, and we only need the time to strike to get our revenge. Someone is helping us, brother. Someone from the inside who will help our cause. They already prepare the army we need to fight the Lannister or the Solaris Kingdom if necessary."

Oberyn can only sigh and nod his head.

"Very well. We will follow this plan of yours. Let's just pray to the Gods it is a good plan because I am afraid we will create a strong enemy if this plan fails."
