Chapter 1 - Intro

"Don't forget the difference between the overwhelming fragrance of love and lust."

Love is a difficult word to describe. Do people really fall in love? Or do they fall for the idea of love? It was something out of a fairy tale to find the one. The person who would dedicate their life to make sure you remained happy. The person who would cherish you till death do you part.

Romeo didn't believe in love. He'd been raised his whole life to hate the idea of love. He was what the angels called a heartbreaker. He dedicated his training to shooting arrows of lust and heartbreak. It made more sense to be shot with an arrow of pain and suffering, than to be shot with an arrow of long lasting love and happiness.

The fallen angel had the looks of a k-pop idol. His eyes were black, his hair a deep maroon, and his skin a soft tan. He always seemed to be glaring, and his smile was non-existent. He had a middle part that allowed his bangs to swoop over his forehead and the back to fall to his neck. He always wore a maroon suit with black accents, and his feathery wings matched that dark black color. Romeo stood at six feet tall, towering over most of his targets, and he never missed his shot.

There was a system, up in heaven. You had the gods and goddesses, the people who ruled the place and kept the order going. They'd been there since time began. Then you had the angels. Messengers, warriors, cupids, and souls. The first three were the angels born into heaven. You grew up and were trained based on your progress reports and the type of wings you developed, assigning you to a job you would then maintain as an adult. Souls were the purest of all the dead creatures in the world. Humans and elves mainly, with the mixture of any other species who made their way to the good charts.

Then there was Hell. You had the seven rings, the seven sins. And you had the fallen angels. Romeo belonged there, as he'd been the result of an affair between a Cupid and a demon born of lust. Naturally, he became an Anti-Cupid, also known as a heartbreaker. Every heartbreaker is paired with a Cupid at birth, and trains with them every day up until it is time to depart from Heaven. Departure would mean being sent to the human realm to complete the tasks given to each one, whilst living together and keeping the balance.

Romeo didn't mind being paired up with an angel, and his was somewhat tolerable. Darling. He was pretty, with fair skin and cotton candy pink eyes. His blonde hair was fluffy and perfect, with round glasses and elfish ears. He tended to wear lots of pink and white, occasionally switching for a gold and red. His wings were fluffy and white, and his harp matched. He was one of Heavens highest ranking cupids, and he did his job with ease.

"Romeo, oh Romeo! Where art thou Romeo!" The teasing voice of the little angel rang through Romeo's ears as he looked up from his place on the training ground.

This was the land where Cupids and Heartbreakers spent their time together before departing. Romeo was well aware that that day was today. Darling seemed excited as he rushed over, eyes wide and puppy-like. Romeo smirked.

"Hey there, Cupie."

"There you are! Can you believe it? We are going to be staying in a castle!" he spoke quickly, but Romeo had grown accustomed to it and was able to keep up while staying casual and nonchalant.

"I know, Darling, it's cool or whatever." he rolled his eyes with a hint of playfulness.

"I've been waiting for this day my whole life, heart stopper!" he grinned.

"Then let's stop standing here and get going." Romeo held out his arm, watching with a soft gaze as Darling hooked onto him.

The two didn't have to do much before departing. Darling made a small prayer, and Romeo flipped off his superiors, before the two spread their wings and took off.
