Chapter 4 - C-1.4

< POV: Cid >

Seems I am still alive, huh? Well not that I didn't expected it but still, to survive such a fall. I guess, I got quite a bit more durable. Although feeling just about every bone in my body break isn't something I want to feel again, even though it didn't quite hurt, it's still a weird feeling.

So… where am I now?

I started looking around. I seemed to be in some kind of room (wow who would have thought?), it has a few windows and a few… holes? So, an old building.

Maybe the building I almost crashed into?'

I was in a corner and directly opposite me, was a girl, a blond one, which semi-long hair. And… long ears? So probably not human. Although that man said that I would be send to another world.

Looking out of window, directly left to me, I could see that I definitely wasn't on a ground floor. And outside were some kind of ruins and in it were Goblins? No, Bokoblins.

So, I'm in a Zelda game then.

I honestly don't know much about them. I only ever started a playthrough of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Played around 28 hours in 4 days and then just stopped playing. Yes, I am that type of person and no I didn't even finish a single playthrough… But I did remember that you would start on some kind of Plateau and had to do a few shrines. Three or four? After that you went to a church where you would get the Paraglider with which you could leave and explore the remaining world. An old man gave it to you, I think he was a king or something? And he told you to go control some giant animal robots. I think there were three… a bird, a camel and a gecko or something like that. No there were four, there was also an elephant. And now that I think about what is the issue I am to solve? I don't remember ever being told what to do…

// Control or destroy Divine Beasts: 0/??? //

// Get or destroy Masks: 0/??? //

// Free Great Fairies: 0/??? //

// Destroy Ganon, the Calamity: 0/1 //

// Free the princess of her curse: 0/1 //

Huh, convenient. It's almost as if someone spoke directly into my mind to tell me what to do. But still Masks? I don't quite remember there being any special masks in BOTW. I guess that is something new…

But besides that, and the Fairies, I just have to follow Link, in his journey and it should be even easier. It would also be quite nice to not be alone the whole time and if we have the same goal? Why not help each other… But first let's wake him up, I guess.

And so, I stood up, carefully, still not quite sure if I am completely fine. But I couldn't feel anything wrong even after standing up and moving a bit around. So, I guess I am completely fine, seems like I do heal quite fast… well then let's wake him up.

And so, I walked up to him but just as I was to shake him awake…

He woke up by himself and instantly sprung to his feet, while also pulling out a sword out of his… something, something slate. Which he swings at me… and I not expecting him to do that, just stand there, too stunned to react. But as the sword hits me, instead of drawing blood like I expected, it just breaks…

Whoa, seems like I am tougher than I thought. But still to have a sword break when it hits me….

"Oh goddess. Are you ok?"

"Uh, yeah. I'm fine, I guess…"

"Really, well you did fall from the sky without a scratch so, I guess it makes sense that a sword wouldn't do you any harm…"

Without a scratch, he says? Not quite, but I guess I healed before he found me. So how do I want to do this? I am a foreign person. Maybe I can play amnesiac? Say I have no memories, he is a hero so maybe he would want to help me?

"Fell from the sky, you say?"

"Yeah. Almost like some kind of fireball, straight from the sky… you almost hit me, too…" He says and at the end he… pouts? No like really. He pouts? And now that I look at it. He seems to have breasts. And he does look quite androgynous… maybe he isn't a he but rather a she?

"I do remember seeing everything from above. And then everything went black… If you say I fell from the sky I guess that is when I crashed… you found me and brought me here? I think I remember seeing something like a church from up there."

I don't think I need to mention how it feels to burned alive… and now that I think about it. I don't think I wore any clothes while falling… I looked down. Well at least I'm wearing some now.

"Yes, I found you in front of this temple. It was almost night, so I brought you up here. Although I don't think that Bokoblins would be able to hurt you but still it wouldn't be right to just leave you there. But how come you fell from the sky?"

"I don't remember, if I'm honest. The only thing I remember is my name, Cid… and someone asking me to do something. Something about masks and Divine Beasts? And I think Fairies were also mentioned, great ones, now that I think about it. And last but not least something about saving a girl and defeating some kind of Calamity or something along the lines of that…"

I don't think it would be good to mention Zeldas name or that of Ganon.

"You too, huh? Well, nice to meet you, Cid. I'm Linkle. And while I didn't quite wake up in the sky, I did also wake up without most of my memories. Then I met this old man, who later gave me what is basically a history lesson. It helped me regain some memories. Maybe it will work for you too?" The now named Linkle offered. So, she is indeed female… "He also mentioned Divine Beasts. As well as a woman, named Zelda, the princess of this Kingdom actually, who went to confront the Calamity Ganon, so maybe…?" She finished, not quite looking happy but… maybe hopeful? I guess waking up alone without any memories and being alone can be quite hard, I forgot that she lost her memories, now I kinda feel bad... And now that I think about it, the king also asked you to save Zelda and defeat Ganon, didn't he? I guess she hopes that she isn't the only one on this journey…

"Sure, Linkle. I would like to also hear your 'history lesson'." I said while looking at her with a small smile. Only to see her basically start glowing after being asked something.

Seems like she had it quite tough, huh?

"Ok, so…. " And then she told me everything about the Divine Beasts, Ganon and Zelda…

"And that is everything King Rhoam told me… do you remember anything now?" After Linkle gave me what really seemed like a history lesson. And she seemed quite proud of herself for remembering that much from just listening to an old man once…

"No sadly I can't remember more than before. Although I am quite sure that, Ganon is the Calamity that I am supposed to defeat and that that Zelda is the woman that I'm supposed to safe. And its good to know that there are only 4 Divine Beasts. But don't worry about it. For now, I have no problems with not remembering anything. This way I can at least concentrate on my current 'tasks', without being distracted.

But he didn't mention special Masks or Great Fairies, did he?" After I said that she started frowning whether that is because she couldn't answer me or whether I didn't get any new memories, I don't know.

"No, he didn't, sorry. He just kinda vanished after that he asked me to save Zelda and told me to go to Kakariko Village. Can you believe that? I almost died, slept for a 100 years and now he wants me to save a woman, that I basically never met? Yes, I did recover some of my memories but still… everything just feels, so… distant." She really isn't just a video game character now, is she? I don't really know Zelda lore but then again… I don't think I have ever seen a Legend of Zelda game in which Link (or Linkle, I guess) doesn't really want to save Zelda. And although it would be nice to have her help, I don't want to force or guilt trip her into this, so…
