Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 007

Kathy was being of very good help to Arielle while she took on Miquels tasks. She watched as Arielle handled the meetings and appointments with so much expertise that she soon began to wonder who this woman actually was.

Kathy did not know how to go about her findings as it had gotten even more difficult seeing that they were now both in the same office.

Arielle kept stealing glances at her and throwing suspicious smiles her way and this made her really uncomfortable rather than at ease.

It was 2pm when Kathy got a call from the reception saying there was a man there who wanted to see Arielle. Kathy quickly informed her and as per protocol decided to go check who the person was and know what the meeting was about.

As soon as Arielle heard that someone was at the reception, she quickly stood up and headed for the stairs. But before she got to the door Kathy stood up and told her to get back to work as she would handle it as the personal assistant and ensure to lead whoever he was directly to the office.

Arielle was very quick to brush past her saying that there was no need, that she was going to meet with the person herself as it was a very important meeting.

Kathy couldn't insist as Arielle was already thumping down the stairs. She didn't have a choice but to let her so she went back to her table.

Miquel made his way to the address that was written on the picture. It was a small, unassuming house in a quiet neighborhood. He walked up to the door and knocked, not knowing what to expect.

He waited, and after a moment the door opened. An elderly woman stood there, looking at him with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.

"Can I help you?" she asked, her voice quiet and quavering.

Miquel took a deep breath. "I'm looking for information about my parents," he said. "I think you might be able to help me."

The woman's eyes widened. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said, her voice still quiet but firm. "I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about your parents."

Miquel could tell that she was lying. There was something in her eyes that told him that she knew more than she was letting on. He decided to take a chance.

"Please," he said, his voice pleading. "I just need to know the truth. I'm not going to leave until you tell me what you know."

The woman looked at him for a long moment, then she sighed.

"Come inside," she said, opening the door wider. "I'll tell you what I know."

Miquel followed her into the house, and she led him to the living room. She gestured for him to sit down, and he did so, feeling a sense of anticipation and dread.

"What do you want to know?" she asked, her voice still quiet.

Miquel took a deep breath. "I want to know what happened to my parents," he said. "I want to know who killed them."

The woman looked down at her hands, her face full of sorrow.

"It was a long time ago," she said, her voice full of emotion. "Your parents were not very good people. But I wouldn't say they deserved what happened to them."

Miquel leaned forward, hanging on her every word. "What happened to them?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

The woman took a deep breath. "Your parents were murdered," she said. "I don't know who did it, but I know why."

Miquel's heart was pounding in his chest. "Why?" he asked, his voice shaking. The woman looked him in the eye.

"They were killed because their success had come at a cost, one that had come to light.

After the discussion with the old lady, It seemed that Miquel's parents had gained their fortune through unethical means, exploiting natural resources and the people who depended on them.

This had come to the attention of a rival company, who saw an opportunity to take over Miquel's parents' business. So they had hired someone to eliminate the competition, and Miquel's parents had been the target.

Miquel was shocked and angry as he learned the truth. He couldn't believe that his parents, whom he had always thought of as honest and upstanding, had been involved in such a scheme. And he was even more upset to think that they had been murdered because of it.

He wanted to find out who was responsible, and make them pay.He started by going through his parents' records, looking for any clues as to who might have been behind their deaths.

But it was difficult to find anything concrete, and he soon hit a dead end. He was about to give up, when he remembered something his father had told him years ago.

He had said that there was one person who knew the truth about the company's dark past, and that person was not to be trusted. Miquel had never given it much thought at the time, but now he wondered if that person could have been behind his parents' murder.

He began to investigate, following any leads he could find. He tracked down people who had known his parents, and slowly pieced together the story of their rise to power.

It was a dark and twisted tale, one that left him feeling more and more disgusted with each new revelation. Finally, he had a name: the CEO of the rival company, a man named Richard Johnson.

Miquel had never met Johnson, but he had heard his name mentioned in connection with his parents' business. Now he was convinced that Johnson was responsible for their deaths.

Determined to bring him to justice, Miquel began to search for any evidence that could link Johnson to the crime. But his investigation was interrupted when he received a mysterious call from an unknown number. When he answered, a voice said only one word: "Stop."

It had been over 30 minutes since Arielle went to meet with the unknown man and it was starting to get Kathy worried. She wanted to head down to check what was going on as no meeting with clients had taken more than 20 minutes before.

Kathy kept on working after remembering the tone Arielle had used when she wanted to check who the person was so she concluded it was a really important person and she wasn't supposed to get involved.

After some minutes, she headed to Miguel's table where Arielle worked to get a file she needed for compilation.

On getting to the table, what she saw made her legs shake terribly as she realized her truth was about to be revealed.
