Markus drowsily woke up, feeling the sun shining directly on his face. He lazily opened an eye expecting to see the white ceiling of the hospital but was astonished to find a lavish ceiling full of gold engravings and a beautiful chandelier hanging above him. He sat up instantly, briefly pausing to marvel at feeling no pain in doing so, but the very next moment he was assaulted with most excruciating pain originating from his head. He gritted his teeth, not shouting in fear of attracting attention and endured the pain for what seemed like an eternity. Then the same cold voice resounded in his head along with a text appearing in front of him.
[Memory transfer complete]
Markus spent the next few minutes just lying down as his head was still reeling from the pain. After a few minutes, when he felt like he could think again, he was astonished to find a shit ton of memories in what seemed like a folder in his head. He felt like he could view them like a movie so he tried to and for the next hour or so did his best to sort through the memories.
After he viewed the memories, Markus had a few revelations. First, he was not on earth anymore. Now wasn't that a fucking twist, He had apparently transmigrated into an entirely new, one which was totally different from his own, The second was that MAGIC fucking existed here!! He was instantly hit with the impulse to perform any magic he knew but he calmed himself and thought to first thoroughly go through the memories before attempting anything. The third was his identity in this world, He was Lucian Nightshade, the Viscount of Nightshade who was a Viscount serving under his majesty, King Edward Darkwood, the ruler of the Darkwood kingdom, They resided on an continent the size of all the continents of earth combined called the Veridiania continent. There were other continents but it seemed like due to unknown circumstances, contact with them had been cut off.
Back to the topic Markus was most excited about, magic!!!! Apparently mages existed here who used mana or aether from the surroundings to enhance their mind and soul and to cast spells. There were also warriors who rather used it to enhance their body and to cultivate their aura. Both of these paths were widely spread, with the number of warriors surpassing that of mages by quite a bit, as mages had stringier requirements for embarking on the path. But, mages were stronger than those warriors of the same level by a pretty big margin. This was also the reason majority of the nobles were mages. Warriors path while easy to get into, was notoriously difficult to advance in. In the entirety of Darkwood kingdom, there were only 2 rank 3 warriors, while the number of mages were in the dozens.
Magnus also didn't ignore the existence of his system either. As he had read a few novels in his past life, he had a basic idea on how they operated. He called out "status" in his mind.

[ Welcome Lucian Nightshade(Markus Reed). You have been chosen to become the host of the Infinity Emporium System. The system is here to help you establish the most powerful emporium in existence.]
'Huh…. Infinite Emporium System? Seems like it chose me due to my business acumen that I acquired in my past life.. hmm , What specifically is your function and who created you?'
[The Infinite Emporium System has several functions
1, To display your status.
2. To help you in managing your shop.
3. A system catalogue through which you can upgrade your shop using SP.
4. Issue quests and rewards based on your actions.
The rest of the functions are things the host must find out by raising your authority level. So please try your best!!
As for information about the system's creation, you do not have sufficient authority to view it.]
Marcus or rather Lucian thought 'Though I sort of expected Authority levels to be significant, I didn't think it would be so crucial… It almost seems like this system was tailor made for me. I mean a system pertaining to making money and managing what I imagine to be a universal shop? That's totally my style! Oh man, come to think of it, wealth is not all about money here, spells, magical materials, weapons, and a whole lot of other stuff are probably more precious… Damn! This is gonna be so much fun!!! Though I've really got to start referring to myself as Lucian even in my head now. I better get acclaimed to people calling me that, It would be pretty awkward and a dead giveaway if someone called me Lucian right next to face and I didn't respond'
As Lucian was lost in his thoughts, a knock on the door resounded throughout the room followed by a sweet voice.
"Master Lucian, It's time for you to wake up! It's time for breakfast already. Your sister is going to be mad if you don't show up on time."
Lucian recognised the voice as that of his personal maid, Emily.
"Yeah, Emily. I'm already up. Come in."
As Emily entered the room, Lucian observed her. She was 24 years old and had been raised by the Nightshade family as his personal maid. She was a voluptuous woman, with silver hair and ruby eyes. She had been with Lucian since his childhood whilst simultaneously undergoing training under the head maid and butler. She was also responsible for his safety, as she was a talented mage who had achieved rank 2 in magic. She had now become the head maid as he became the viscount recently.
'Hmm.. better to lessen my interactions with her in the near future. Though I have all of Lucien's memories, I haven't even gone through them thoroughly and the chances of me slipping up are too high. Even though I'm a pretty good actor, it's gonna take time to incorporate all of Lucian's habits and tics properly. Hey system, is it possible to detect that Lucian has been replaced through magical means?? I should've thought of that earlier!!'
[Rest assured Host, the system's means are not detectable by anyone on this planet]
'So you mean people beyond this planet may be able to sense it??'
[.....yes, probably]
'Hey! what was with that pause?? Leave it, I can't do anything about it now.'
While his internal conversation with the system was going on, Emily was watching her master staring into empty space and going through a range of emotions on his face.
"Is everything alright, Master Lucian?" she asked.
"Yeah, no need to worry, I'm perfectly alright" replied Lucian.
"Why don't you go draw up my bath? I'll be there in a few minutes"
"Of course, Master Lucian"
Emily bowed and left.
Lucian then moved on to the gift he'd been itching to open all this time
'System, Open starter pack!'
