Was there honor in death?
After being on the battlefield all his life, he had never seen anyone die with honor. Die with pride, perhaps. Die while fighting for what they believe, die fighting to protect their people and their land.
Only those who hadn't stepped on the battlefield would say honor at the mention of war and death. It was simply a way to encourage or motivate anyone to fight for them so they could keep enjoying their lives in their palace and mansions.
