A resounding slap echoed in Valerie's ears as her face was tossed aside. Her eyes instantly went wide, at first shocked. Her cheek only throbbed a second later, realizing what had just happened.
Valerie touched her cheek, slowly facing her brother, who had always pampered her. "Brother…?"
"Valerie, what did you do?" Vincent's voice shook in anger. "Was it true? Hmm? Did you hurt Fil?"
"No!" Valerie exclaimed in defense. "I never even touched her!"
Her breath hitched when Vincent suddenly raised his phone to her. Valerie blinked a couple of times, eyes shaking as she gazed at the phone.
"You didn't?" Vincent repeated. "If you didn't, then care to explain this?"
For a moment, Valerie held her breath, studying the close-up photo of a woman's cheek and then the cut on her lips. Fil's entire face might not be included in the photo, but by the shape of her face and lips, there was no doubt it was her.
