Arthur Wayne, a truly interesting individual. Despite losing his parents at a young age, having to survive alone in the orphanage for 10 years with a chronic illness that would not let him reach above the age of 20, he always strived for a long and meaningfull life.Â
Even as he kept getting overlooked by the foster parents looking for a child to adopt because of his illness, he never gave up. He hoped that he could one day prove all the people wrong. He wanted to live a long life. Was that truly too much to ask for? To live?
Apperantly so. At the young age of 16, Arthur died to his disease in the hospital. He truly wished...he would gain another chance at life. One where he could live long, perhaps even infinitely. He just needed more time. It didnt matter how hard it would be, it didnt matter how low the chances were of actually reaching it, as long as he had another chance to live a long life, he would take it.
After death, all that greeted him was nothingness. It wasnt "black", it wasnt "dark", it was simply...nothingness. The best way to describe it would be, try to look behind you without turning your head. It isnt possible, you simply wouldnt see anything. Thats what Arthur was experiencing currently.Â
'A fate worse than hell. After all this yearning for a life...would I have to spend the rest of eternity in nothingness?' Arthur thought.
It seemed so. As such, time passed. It isnt clear how much time had passed. Arthur felt as if it had been eons, but at the same time he thought it couldve also just been a few hours. It was a very weird feeling, as if even time itself did not exist in this empty space.Â
But then after endless waiting, something finally emerged in the 'nothingness'. A light. It changed everything. It seemed as if hope had blossomed in Arthurs heart. Just what could this light mean? Is there a chance for another life?
It was a very dim light. You could barely see it. But being surrounded by quite literally nothing else, Arthur fully focused on that light. It was around the size of his little pinkies nail. It moved around Arthur. Arthur had no body anymore, however his conciousness was still in one place as if he had one. The light circled around Arthurs conciousness a few times, before getting close and stopping.
Arthur was confused, however before he had time to think about what just happened more lights appeared. At first it was around half a dozen. They repeated the first lights movements, finally settling a bit infront of where Arthurs conciousness is.
Then more and more lights appeared. Hundreds and thousands of little lights, all circling around Arthurs body, circling him a few times before locking different places. As more and more lights started setting down in certain places, Arthur started to recognize something.
'Its...a body? My body.' Arthur realized. The little lights were forming his body out of themselves.
He also noticed another thing. A huge amount of lights, atleast half the total amount focused on one singular spot in his body. His lower abdomen. It seemed to form...
'A core?' Arthur wondered. Truly something exceptional was happening.Â
After the lights had finally settled down, something new started happening.
Out of thin air, bones started appearing. Arthurs whole skeleton was being reconstructed!
It was one swift movement that basically made the whole skeletual structure appear.
Organs started building themselves up, completely settling down into the self-constructing body.
Afterwards veins, blood vessels and the entire nervous system and cardiovascular system were being constructed infront of Arthurs unbelieving eyes(?). They connected with the organs, especially the heart.
Muscle tissue appeared next, quickly creating a human body. Inside of that body were still all the little lights.
Finally, skin appeared and wrapped itself around the body. It was a very weird sight.
Arthur saw his own body infront of him. A outer body experience doesnt quite cover what just happened.
Now all the fine details appeared, such as hair, fingernails, eyes etc.
It looked like a exact replica of his body. Wavy jet black hair that goes down to his shoulders, incredibly dark pupils, a lean physique that stood over most people, being 6'1 tall.
Inspecting his body, he couldnt find a single mistake. Everything was exactly as it should be. Except maybe that he's naked.
'Just what is happening...' Arthur asked himself. He had no words to describe what was going on, all he could think about was that small sliver of hope he could live again.
'I just need a bit more time to live...please.' Arthur hoped, he would get a bit more time to live a life.
Slowly a pull appeared. A pull coming from the newly formed body. It was pulling Arthur towards the body.
'Am I going to live again...?' If Arthur had eyes, he would probably have a tear streaming down right now.
Not resisting the pull, he entered his own body. Opening his eyes, he looked at his own body.
"I really got my body back!" Arthur said outloud, opening and closing his palm to test his motoric skills.
It seemed a bit unfamiliar to have a body again, however with every passing second he was getting more used to it again.
"A miracle..." Arthur said, wondering what was going to happen now.
As if his thoughts were heard, he suddenly materialized above a forest.
"Oh." Arthur said, falling down.
"AHHHHHHH!" Arthur screamed.
*Boom* *boom boom boom* *BOOM*
Arthur crashed into a tree, then fell through all the branches breaking them in the process. They thankfully slowed his descent down each time he crashed into one, so when he landed on the ground he didnt take too many injuries.
"Hah...that was close." Arthur said in relief at not immeadietly losing his second chance at life.
He inspected his body, seeing small cuts and bruises all over it. Of course falling from such a height through multiple branches wouldnt be without injuries. Especially since he had no protection, still being naked and all. Thankfully he avoided the worst though...
"Now...where the hell am I?" Arthur wondered. He looked around himself. It was a giant forest, covered in thick vegitation. Arthur didnt recognize any of the fauna, it must be a remote country.
Since Arthur was very ill, he spent a lot of time in the hospital. So he used all that free time to read books. He read a lot, making him pretty knowledgeble about most things.
He made his way through the forest, searching for a river. He had to survive. He would not waste this second chance at life! He had more time to live!
Traveling through this thick vegitation with no clothes was truly torture. He cut himself at spikey plants, thick bushes, sticking out branches and all kinds of things.
Especially his feet were worst off, stepping on uneven terrain with lots of stones, sticks and insects around caused a lot of issues.
However he kept moving, Arthur knew he had to find a river soon. Water was incredibly important in such situations, especially since he'd been traveling through the rough terrain for hours now.
Atleast it wasnt hot. The forest was pretty humid. Arthur concluded he must be in some type of South American country. Maybe Congo? But he should recognize the plants around him if it was Congo, Brazil or something similair.
"It must be a less known smaller country. This all looks so unfamiliar." Arthur guessed.
*Grrrrrrowl*
Arthur turned around at lightning speed, his senses going into overdrive. He could see a weird animal infront of him. It looked to be a 3 meters tall hybrid of a tiger, stag and...plants?
It had the body of a tiger, the horns of a stag and plantlife covering its entire body. No its more accurate to say that it was made of plants!
'Just what the hell is that?' Arthur wondered.
*GROWL*
Before Arthur had time to think, the beast leaped at him with its plant claws. Adrenaline was pumping throughout Arthurs entire body, allowing him to dodge the attack by mere centimeters.
He knew he had to do something. He couldnt waste this chance at another life. He had to survive, no matter what.
He knew he couldnt outrun this thing. He also couldnt calm it down since it had already tried to attack him.
He quickly picked up stones with dirt and threw it in the beasts eyes, hoping to temporarily blind him.
*Whoosh!*
Unfortunately for Arthur, a number of vines suddenly blocked the stones and dirt! It shielded the beast from his attack.
No matter how confused Arthur currently was, he solely concentrated on surviving this encounter. He had to escape and survive.
As Arthur picked up a sturdy stick, the vines suddenly moved towards him!
He blocked the vines with his stick, only for it to break and cause him being flung against a tree.
*boom*
"*Cough* Tsk..." Arthur said, coughing out a bit of blood. He quickly got back on his feet, while massive amounts of pain were assaulting him!
He had severe internal injuries. Despite that, he couldnt relent. He had to fight back and create an opening.
'It can control the vines, meaning I have to create a distraction to escape!' Arthur quickly made a simple plan of action.
He chucked the stick towards the beasts eyes, only for it to be shielded by the vines again.
The vines covering the beasts face temporarily restricted its sight, giving Arthur a important opening! As the vines moved back, the first thing the beast saw was Arthur's fist connecting with its snout!
The beast was shocked, stumbling back from the attack. It had never expected the human to hit it!
Arthur took this opportunity and quickly moved towards the beast, hoping to land another blow and dissorient it for a chance at escape!
It seemed luck was not on his side. Vines from all directions quickly rushed him, suspending him in the air and constraining all his limbs.
"Haa...shit."
