"What if it were true?"
The question echoed in Christina's mind, her eyes locked with Reylan's, now filled with seriousness. Her heart pounded rapidly, her body stiffening as the realization hit her.
Holy fucking hell! Was he confessing his feelings to her?
"What if I have been sincere all this time, Christina? What if I haven't been pretending just for the sake of our deal?" Reylan continued, his voice steady despite the sweat trickling down his spine. It had been over a century since he had last felt this nervous, and ironically, it was also in front of this woman when she had stabbed him in the chest at their first meeting.
"It was merely an attraction at our first encounter, but it gradually evolved as I got to know you better. My feelings for you have only deepened over the days we've spent together, and…" Reylan paused, then added hesitantly, "I think I like you, Christina. So much that I want to be in a genuine relationship with you!"
