"Jack? Jack!" I yelled running down the stairs. "Jack, where are you?" I called again, this time rushing through the lounge, eyes darting all sides, searching for him desperately.
It was oddly quiet.
Which only made it easier for the whirling sound of a sprinkler to slip in my ears. It was coming from the backyard. Like a beckon, I was drawn towards the kitchen. I had all the questions and demands well prepared in my mind. It would be a questioning session for him.
I pulled in the glass door and stepped out in the evening sun. A cool breeze was minding its business, traveling from the east side and heading west.
The fresh smell of wet soil intoxicated my senses, making me forget I was looking for Jack.
For a moment, I just stood there taking in the pleasing scent before a shadow walked out from the little greenhouse we grew our vegetables.
My mouth immediately dropped to the ground while my eyes took in the sight of the frame.
His hair was dripping a bit of water from the edges. The drops glimmered in the sunlight as they rolled their way down a very shirtless chest that appeared as though a Greek god had given up their Immortal body and handed it down to Jack. The chiseled abs spoke of all the hours he spent in the gym perfecting them.
My hands suddenly itched to run over every inch of that six-pack.
Repent!
The teasing water drops continued further down to the V that disappeared into the band of his black sweatpants.
Sweatpants. He's freaking wearing sweatpants! I cried as his more-than-perfect body in sweatpants made my heart beat wild. A little more pounding and it would for sure dart out of my chest with tiny legs then run towards Jack.
"Annie?" He called out over the sprinkler noise. My reaction was a sharp scream, then dashing back into the kitchen.
"Oh no! He fucking saw me staring at him." I panicked tossing back the black curls. Hide! That was all I could think of.
A good strategy indeed
I made a run for the breakfast table and crawled under it. Not sure how that was hiding, but it felt right in my head at that moment.
The room fell silent for a few seconds, other than my rugged breathing. I ordered a hand over my nose in an attempt to lessen the noise.
"Annie?" Jack called hurrying in.
The sight of his bare feet made my breathing even more difficult. They looked so big. When was the last time I saw them?
He walked towards the other door in slow steps while still calling for me. "You really wanna play hide and seek right now?"
No response.
"Okay! Fine! But if I win, you have to give me a massage."
My eyes grew round. Massage? Are you insane? How can I stand to touch that body after what I've just seen?
His legs vanished in the other room, which had me lower my guard. With a sigh, I let go of my nose, feeling a little calmer. No way he'd find me there, right? I was in the safest place possible, right?
Still in my jeans, I started crawling backward from under the table. I let a low groan when my head brushed against the edge of the table while rising. Fuck it.
Mastering all the ninja flexibility that I believed I had acquired after watching too many ninja movies, I started tiptoeing out of the kitchen. The best way to attack an enemy is by being close to him.
I was already feeling victorious. He wouldn't even see it coming...at all. But the second I stepped out of the kitchen and into the short hallway, something grabbed and whirled me around before the left side of my face was plastered on the wall.
My hands had also been seized behind me, leaving me hopeless and motionless. One wrong move and I'd dislocate my shoulders.
My attacker leaned forward, trapping my hands between my butt and his...loin.
"Boo! I win." Jack whispered.
Oh he had won more than the game alright. Add my body heat to that win, and my rapid heartbeats.
