Chapter 6 - Unimaginable Request

Still in confuse what'd been said, Brayden watched Declan had the gut of leaving the great him standing there without giving him the order or instruction to. He realized the man was now gaining some attitude and nerve which he needed to caution as he was his boss and not the old man.

So, he needed to make him hell scared of him more than the fear he'd of violating his grandfather words. Remembering the old man not empty threat, he took out his phone and unwilling dialed his number not because he want to but not to get his freelance to his money and car be restricted.

His grandfather must have been impatiently waiting for him because he picked up his call on the first ring and the way he'd sighed into it made him figured the man was feeling good and proud of himself which annoyed him like way damn much. There was a moment of silence before the old man cold trembling tone could be heard.

"You finally agreed and decided to call me my daring grandson. Why didn't you pick up your phone the moment i called you?" A man whose voice thundered as mighty as the ocean wave was heard from the other line.

The Blackford family where know to have men of valour who'd had the coldest voices one that could as much sound as raging earthquake terrifying people that could as much hear it without a frightened or as much fear stricken face. Voices as one that sends cold shrill and chill down the spine of people scaring the living day light and death out of them.

Now, Brayden has come to join the lineage of his family to have those voices and he's seem to be like the most coldest and dreaded of all as his face looked so unfazed void of no emotions whatsoever by the one of the old man's.

"Why have you called me, grandfather? I've told you very correctly to not even dare as call or bother me while I'm in school, haven't I?" He asked in an icy tone voice of his own ignoring the man question without fear.

"I think i could answer your question when you give the answer to the one I asked you off" The man responded in his cold as ice voice again that seemed a little upset and displeased.

With his right hand fist and knuckle clenched hard, Brayden sighed holding the bridge of his nose praying for a death wish from this problem right there.

"I was in a class when you'd called" He replied curtly. However, the next said words of his grandfather left and stopped him dead in his tracks for some minutes.

"Son, verily, you and I both know that's a lie now so come on tell me the truth" His grandfather demanded and his tone was slightly loosing it cool.

Surprised was an understatement when he'd heard that, Brayden was more than or rather a little over shocked. He couldn't believe the old man had been getting information from his personal bodyguards about his whereabouts and what he's been doing. Making a mental note in his head, he decided he was going to find and fished his grandfather spy later on but for now he'd just kept him off his ear.

"Okay, yes and fine you know. Then, whyre you now asking me?" He asked irritated of how much power the man have on those within and around him.

"Nothing much just want you to know that i really much have my eyes on you at all times, my son" The man answered calmly to him making sure to expose the much influence of authority he was having on his life.

"Yeah, yeah I know and have figured that out already" He said much more irritated if not jealousy for the power the old man be holds.

"Right but next time do make sure that my call is picked on the first and not the second ring of your phone. Have I been clearly understood enough?" His grandfather now declared in a much more authoritative tone.

" Yes, your words are taken into consideration, heard and very much understood" He replied pissed hoping the old man would now quickly get off his dial.

"Alright then that's good" The man muttered chuckling.

Impatiently, Brayden escaped a strangled sigh he never knew that he'd inside of him as it seems to him like his grandfather really want to have a long conversation stressing him out. The man continuous but ominous laugh got on his damn nerves more and he'd finally had enough of it.

"Could we now get to part of you telling me why you'd called me? And what you want from me by doing so?" He asked with such cold and bold effrontery that stopped the old man's laughter instantly.

"I see you've gotten tired of hearing me speak and laugh to my heart content, son" His grandfather remarked in a quiet as if sad or hurt tone but he wasn't really buying it.

"Yes, you've gotten it now back to the point of my question" He answered him straight forward immediately.

"The reason I called is for us to begin the discussion and work towards your future" The man simply announced.

Puzzled and confused, Brayden wondered what the man was up to now this time. He thought hard on what he was about putting him up for and making him to do now again. Damn! what games could he be trying to play with me now? He asked himself mindful in private but he couldn't make much of anything on or about it.

"My future? What there to discuss or worked about on my future? Besides, I'm still a young man" He asked him tow of questions trying to guess what was going on in that always busy and surprising mind of his.

"Well, you thinking you're still young that were you're a lot wrong, my grandson" The man responded in his usual cold domineering voice while he thought for sure that he was speaking in riddles so he didn't say anything much as he was still trying to find out what was exactly going on here and his grandfather took the cue to continue the brain cracking speech for him.

"You know that my birthday is coming around the corner and it would be my seventy fifth so I'd mostly be celebrating it in a really big way, you know?" His grandfather ranted out much happily displeasing him.

"Yeah, I know but that has totally nothing to do with me and you know it" He fumed angry at the fact that the old man have had him on the phone talking nothing really important for hell of a minute now.

"What?" The old man exclaimed with disbelief evident in his voice. "It concerns you and you're my only grandson after all. Won't you be giving me anything as a gift?"

"What would I give to you that you don't already have, grandfather?" He asked him reverentially and thoughtful to himself.

"A child is the only thing that I'm yet to have, my grandson" His grandfather stated firmly to him.

"What?" He jerked up as if he'd been stung by a bee or bitten by a snake more dumbstruck now than ever.

"For the most best birthday gift from you I want only a grandson and I'll ask for nothing more or else from you, Brayden" The man announced saying it all in a rush but it was like Brayden's brain had completely shut down became he zoned out his ears buzzing hearing this.
