Chereads / A New Stefan Salvatore / Chapter 19 - Back To Mystic Falls

Chapter 19 - Back To Mystic Falls

Stefan packed his belongings and checked out of the hotel. He needed to travel to Mystic Falls, where his family was living a somewhat peaceful life, or at least as peaceful as it could be given their supernatural circumstances. Stefan felt a mix of anticipation and apprehension at the thought of seeing them again.

As he drove towards Mystic Falls, memories flooded his mind. He thought about the tumultuous relationship he had with his brother Damon, their shared history, and the unspoken bond that held them together despite everything. He also thought about his nephew Zach and his pregnant wife, the baby they were expecting, and his father, who was subservient to him.

Arriving in Mystic Falls, Stefan took a deep breath and made his way to the Salvatore Boarding House. The grand estate stood as a silent reminder of their family's complex past. He parked his car and walked up to the front door, hesitating for a moment before knocking.

The door swung open, revealing Damon, who looked genuinely surprised to see him. "Well, well, look who decided to drop by," Damon said with a smirk. "Didn't think you'd ever come back."

Stefan nodded, feeling a sense of relief. "But right now, I just want to catch up with the family."

Damon smirked and took another sip of his drink. "Family reunion, huh? Well, you picked a good time. Zach and Gail are around, and Dad's been... well, as obedient as a dad can be."

Stefan chuckled. "That should be interesting."

He left Damon in the living room and made his way upstairs to find Zach and his wife, Gail. As he approached their room, he could hear their soft conversation and the occasional laughter. He knocked gently and opened the door to find Zach helping Gail unpack some baby clothes.

"Uncle Stefan!" Zach exclaimed, his face lighting up with a genuine smile. "It's great to see you!"

Stefan returned the smile and walked over to hug his nephew. "It's good to see you too, Zach. And you, Gail. How are you feeling?"

Gail, who was visibly pregnant, smiled warmly. "I'm doing well, Stefan. A bit tired, but that comes with the territory."

Stefan nodded, glancing at the baby clothes. "Looks like you're getting everything ready for the little one."

"We are," Zach said, a proud glint in his eye. "We can't wait to meet her."

"Her?" Stefan's eyes widened with pleasant surprise feigning ignorance. "You're having a girl?"

"Yes," Gail replied, her hand resting on her belly. "We just found out a few weeks ago."

Stefan felt a pang of joy. "That's wonderful news. I'm so happy for you both."

Zach wrapped an arm around his wife. "Thanks, Uncle Stefan. It means a lot to have you here."

Stefan spent some time catching up with Zach and Gail, sharing stories and enjoying the sense of family that he had missed. After a while, he excused himself and headed down the hall to another room, where he knew he would find his daughter, Aurora.

Stefan walked down the hallway, his steps slowing as he approached the door to Aurora's room. The faint glow of candlelight seeped through the gap under the door, and he could hear the soft chanting of a spell. He knocked gently before opening the door.

Inside, Aurora sat at a small table, surrounded by candles and a map spread out before her. Her blonde hair, a striking reminder of her mother Rebekah, cascaded over her shoulders. She looked up, her blue eyes, sharp and intense, softened when she saw her father.

"Dad," she said, a smile breaking through her concentration. "You're back."

Stefan crossed the room and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I am. And I'm happy to see you, Aurora."

She gestured to the map. "I'm trying to track Klaus. He's still holding Joseph and Mom. I can't just sit here and do nothing."

Stefan sighed, feeling the weight of the situation. He admired Aurora's determination but knew that chasing Klaus now would only lead to more dead end. "Aurora, listen to me," he said gently. "I know how much you want to find them, but we need to be smart about this. Running after Klaus right now will only lead to a dead end, back to square one"

Aurora looked down, frustration evident in her expression. "But we can't just let him get away with this. He's holding our family."

Stefan knelt beside her, taking her hands in his. "I promise you, there will come a day when we will make him pay for everything he's done. But now is not the time. We need to be patient, bide our time, and when the moment is right, we'll strike. But for now, we need to focus on keeping ourselves safe and living our lives."

She looked at him, her resolve wavering. "But what if we don't get another chance?"

"We will," Stefan assured her. "Klaus is not invincible, and his time will come. But we have to be smart and careful. You have your whole life ahead of you, Aurora. Don't let him take that away from you."

Aurora nodded slowly, her anger giving way to acceptance. "Okay, Dad. I trust you."

Stefan smiled, relieved. "Good. Now, let's focus on what we can control. Spend time with Zach and Gail. Enjoy being with family. And remember, I'm always here for you."

She hugged him tightly, and Stefan felt a surge of protectiveness for his daughter. "I love you, Dad," she whispered.

"I love you too, Aurora," he replied, holding her close.

As they pulled apart, Aurora blew out the candles and rolled up the map. "I'll put this aside for now," she said with a determined look. "But I'm not giving up."

Stefan chuckled. "I wouldn't expect anything less from you."

Leaving Aurora's room, Stefan felt a renewed sense of purpose. He had his family, and together, they would face whatever challenges came their way. But for now, they would focus on living their lives, finding moments of peace and joy amidst the chaos of their supernatural world.
