William's pov
Now my secretary is dead, what am I going to do?. I decided to send my condolences to Mona's family.
When I looked at Jason, he was already sobbing, it made me want to join him but I had to comfort him.
"It's alright Jason", I said, caressing his back.
The more I comforted him, the more he cried out louder. "Go to the office and control the situation, we have to look for another secretary urgently", I said.
"Alright sir", he went into the car still sobbing.
Jason went to the office, while I went to pay my condolences to Mona's family as her boss.
I drove alone. Mona's place wasn't that far from the company. I finally reached it.
I could hear cries from the entry as I parked my car outside. "I could this happen!", I heard a woman sobbing.
I felt pain in my heart, the Mona I used to work with was no more. A tear escaped my eye, I rubbed it off with my finger.
I decided to go inside and pass on my condolences. As I entered, a guy welcomed me, he was Mona's brother.
"My condolences to you, I am so sorry for your loss' ', I greeted the old lady that was seated holding Mona's photo.
She looked surprised, it seemed like she didn't know me. Before I could explain myself, Mona's brother did it.
"Grandma, this is Mona's boss",he said.
So the woman was Mona's grandma, she looked at me twice and continued crying, letting her tears fall on her hands.
"Please sit down", Mona's brother offered me a seat.
"She was so young!Why! Why!", Mona's grandma sobbed loudly.
I could no longer control myself, I just found tears escaping my eyes.
I stayed there for an hour, then I decided to head back to the office. I let Mona's brother know that I was leaving.
I was right in my car again. Still feeling the pain of losing my secretary. So this is how people leave their loved ones?.
Finally I was ready to start off. Put on my seatbelt and started off. I had to look for a new secretary as soon as possible. But how am I going to find a perfect one like Mona?.
I left Jason with a task of looking for a new secretary through online means. Just hope there is a suitable one.
I was already near the company, only a few minutes of driving left for me to reach.
The company was already visible in my sight. I sighed. I packed my car right in front of the company.
There was silence, like never before. It wasn't weird because Mona's death had probably silenced them.
I couldn't hear any voice of a worker, not even the security guard. I entered the company.
Everyone is sitting silently in their departments. Their eyes were visibly red, they were crying.
I saw Ivy busy on her laptop, she didn't notice me from the looks of things. She must have countless projects to deal with.
Ivy being Albert's secretary has seen hail on Earth. Albert is always partying, leaving her with all the work.
Since nobody noticed me, I went straight into my office that was located upstairs. As I was passing through the stairs, nobody seemed to have been startled by the sounds.
I was done walking through the stairs and about to turn left, going to my office but Jason called my name.
"Sir William!"He was coming from right where his office was.
I looked back then I saw a familiar face. It was the strange lady I served last night. She was standing behind Jason.
Half of her body was covered by Jason's figure. I didn't say anything but I was surprised.
"Here is Miss Alicia Breka, she's the lady we served last night sir..she is your new secretary", said Jason.
"Hi sir!"The lady greeted me freeing from Jason's figure.
She looked different this time, her attire was formal to the standards of being a secretary. She was wearing a women's jacket and a gray skirt. Her hair was tied behind her neck smartly.
"What makes you think you are good enough for the position",I asked her without greeting her back.
She looked scared and lost confidence. "Ah..ah, sir William, I graduated with a degree in home decor and design", she said looking nervous that she almost bit her tongue.
"Sir, she suits perfectly, I already interviewed her!"Jason defended her.
"Miss Breka, I will give you this position but, don't be careless and sluggish", I said in Sad tone.
I don't like my employees to be too confident with their pace, always wanting them to work harder. And now this lady will do the same by being a little strict with her.
"Thank you sir!, And thanks for serving me last night!", She shouted with joy.
Oh my God, that smile of hers Makes me feel weird. She looked so beautiful that I almost smiled back.
I convinced myself not to, then gave her my back to view. "Work will start tomorrow!Make sure to follow Jason's instructions!", I said while heading to my office.
Alicia's Pov
After I sent my boss a text that I wanted to resign. He didn't text back. I threw my phone on the bed.
By then, mom was cleaning up the house and I decided to help. "Mom, let me do this", I took the mop from her.
"Ain't you preparing for work?", She asked.
I didn't know which lie I would put up at that time, then suddenly my lying talent gave me a hint.
"Actually my boss said that she's shutting down the restaurant due to low income, so mom, I have to look for a new job", l lied again.
"Oh no dear, hope you find it soon", she handed over the mop to me.
"I will mom, God will help me!", I said, mopping the floor.
Suddenly my phone rang, I ran to get it. Where did I leave my phone?I forget where I kept it. I started tracking the direction of the sound.
Oh I remembered that it was on the bed. It was Katie calling. I answered the call.
"Hey girl, what's up with you? Where did you go last night? Were you trying to kill me with fear?"Katie asked so many questions on the spot.
"I don't know Katie", I answered looking at my mom's face. I couldn't tell Katie what had happened to me last night because of mom.
"Why don't you come over then I will tell you in person MIH?", I said and Katie understood my language.
MIH actually means, mom is here, Katie and I made it.
I looked at my laptop that dad bought for me as a gift a long time ago when I turned 15 years old.
I opened it, connected it, thinking that maybe I could see that those application letters I use to send to different companies had positive responses.
I started reading them one by one, but they all had apologies saying: Dear Miss Breka, we are sorry to inform you that bla bla bla.
Then suddenly a notification popped up, I checked it. It said: ABz decor and designing company is urgently looking for a qualified secretary. They listed out the qualifications, some which were useless.
I saw that I was suitable, then I applied and closed my laptop for ten minutes. That's what I usually do whenever I am feeling anxious.
I opened it again, this time I saw a positive response saying: Dear Miss Breka, we are happy to inform you that you are qualified for the position. Please be at the company in an hour.
What the hell was that? An hour?. I had to shower and put on my formal attire. Grey skirt and a black jacket. Mom was in the kitchen.
I took my application files and ran straight to mom in the kitchen. "Mom! Mom!" She got startled.
"Where are you going in that attire?", She asked as she turned to look at me.
"Mom, I have a job!".
"Really?Oh my goodness, I am so happy!"She hugged me.
"Mom is getting late, I will explain when I come back!", I left a kiss on her forehead.
I left outside to board a bus. No car was passing by. I got so stressed out that I began to move backwards in search of a car.
"Oops, am sorry!", I bumped into someone. My files fell down. He didn't say anything but stared at me.
I stared back at him, he was so handsome. He smiled, a dimple showed off, his hair shoke from the air. He was so gentle and his skin was bright like he hadn't been exposed to the sunlight before.
He helped me pick up my files, then suddenly a bus showed up. I ran into it, and couldn't wait any more time for my job interview.
I shouted thanks to him from a distance. The bus already started off. I was surprised that the bus was already right in front of the company in less than 25 minutes.
Oh my God, the company was classic, well designed and the location was superb. I knocked on the gate. The security man opened.
"I am Alicia Breka, the new secretary", I introduced myself before being asked. I guess that has been my problem ever since I can remember.
"Oh, so you are the one sir Jason is waiting for?.. please come in", I was wondering who Jason is. The guard already directed me inside.
Then I entered the building, I saw sad faces, no one to attend to me. Then a guy came from upstairs.
"What!", I was shocked. It was the guy who served me last night. His face looked surprised too upon seeing me.
"Are you Miss Breka?"He reached out to me.
"Yes, sir thanks for serving me last night", I already said thanks to him.
"Yes, what happened to you?, I mean why were you running away? Who hurt you?" Oh my God this sir Jason was like Katie, asking so many questions at a spot.
Wait, is he my boss?. "No sir, it's something personal", I hurriedly answered him.
"Alright, I have checked your application and you are really suitable, please sit down, let's wait for sir William", he offered me a seat.
So sir William is the boss?. I waited for almost an hour in his office. Then suddenly we heard some footsteps outside.
Sir Jason went outside to check and I followed him. It was his friend. I saw them together last night. Is he sir William?.
"Sir William!", I heard Jason call him. He looked back. His face looked serious, like he was from crying. He's so handsome like the guy I pumped into earlier.
"Here is Miss Breka sir, she's the lady we served last night.., she's your new secretary", Jason introduced me.
"Hi sir!", Couldn't hope but greeted him warmly.
Then the next thing I heard was "what makes you think that you are good enough for this position", his voice was cold. He was so mean.
I explained myself anxiously. Then Jason defended me. "Sir, she suits perfectly, I already interviewed her ''.
He gave me the position and I smiled with joy. He turned and walked away.
