"Let her go! Let her go!" The leader amongst the masked men shouted.
His men immediately released their grip on Maddison and pushed her out. They slammed the van door shut and drove off.
Maddison felt herself free-falling, as she heard two more gunshots. She squinted her eyes closed, bracing for impact with the ground.
But she didn't scrap her knees on her hands. She didn't hit the ground. Someone caught her in the nick of time. When Maddison opened her eyes, she realized it was Leo who saved her!
"Are you alright, Maddy?" He asked anxiously as he checked her for injuries.
The way he spoke was as if he was speaking to someone close. Someone he cherished. Like he was speaking to family.
It was filled with tender loving care!
[Did he just call me 'Maddy'?] Maddison thought to herself in confusion.
Too many things had happened all at once. She couldn't think straight. Her heart was still pounding in her chest.
