"Maybe they used an alternate route? Didn't you say there was a tunnel connecting to the underground bunker?"
"Oh…right," Maddison gulped as she continued searching.
"Can anyone hear me? Hello?" A voice came through the comms console.
It was Eliza!
Maddison immediately connected with her, "Eliza, can you hear me?"
"Boss? Oh, thank the heavens you're alright. We're-"
"Eliza? Eliza!"
Maddison slammed her fists down on the console, fearing the worst. Elias hugged her from behind, knowing nothing could comfort her.
"If only I…," Maddison clenched her jaw tight, unable to speak any further.
She refused to let the tears flow. There was still a glimmer of hope. No matter how small it may be, she was going to hold on to it and make it out alive with Elias.
"Tell me what to do. They've prepped you for such a situation, right?" Elias said while still hugging her tightly.
