NICO'S POV
After so many years, I'll finally be able to have the letter killer where I want him, even if it means risking Mr. Calahan's life. I'll do whatever it takes. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. I don't care what I have to do or who I have to risk; I will capture my parents' killer at all costs.
Although after this case, I'm not sure what I'll do with my life. There's something I've been thinking about, and it's the idea of not investigating any more cases and stepping down as a detective, at least for a while.
I started investigating cases when I turned fifteen, but I did it secretly so I could continue studying in high school without anyone knowing what I was doing. But before I graduated, a girl who is now a police lieutenant made me promise something that she probably thinks I've forgotten.
What I promised her was that I would tell her the truth about how I feel about her, which I've hidden since I met her—to be more specific, I met her in my second year while I was in my first year.
When I saw her, I simply thought she was the typical smart girl who always got good grades. But when I started my third year, I saw what she was really like instead of seeing an intelligent girl without worries about her future.
I was met with the big surprise that she was the complete opposite. While she sometimes got good grades, her way of being was tender, and she always wanted to do everything possible to make sure none of her friends felt bad, but she never cared about herself.
I remember one day I found her crying in an empty classroom. When she saw me, she wiped her eyes to avoid me seeing her cry and tried to leave, but I stopped her, making her look at me.
It didn't take ten seconds, and she started crying again, but this time she clung to my chest tightly. For the first time, I saw a girl cry who, for the rest of the students, was someone without problems. That day was the beginning of everything.
It was that day, June twentieth, twenty-twenty, when I met the girl who would give me a reason not only to finish high school but also showed me that no one can always be alone. That girl, Shina Geiser, was the one who changed me, and it's time for me to repay that favor by capturing and locking away the letter killer forever. This will close the case my father couldn't solve, even if it's the last thing I do.
3RD PERSON
The day of the party arrived, and everyone is ready. Shina and Catherine got into a different car to avoid suspicion and set off to return to New York and go to the mayor's house. Meanwhile, Nico, Jacob, and Roman would head to the party at the White House.
Nahir would stay in the apartment to wait for the signal from Shina and Catherine.
The final operation is underway.
