Even if Dio said so, Kanaru figured he couldn't be as miraculous as a true sun god. This man slept inside a volcano to cultivate heat—replacing the sun as their energy source. This pain shouldn't be any trouble to him. Moreover, his body could produce white flames. That in itself was enough for Kanaru to realize Dio was not in any pain right now.
