"Kanaru!" The fair-haired maiden waved a hand and ran up to Kanaru. The guards watched her, keeping up with the pace of the crown prince. She hugged the third prince. "I was so worried when I heard a rumor! You left our land safe and sound, and yet—!"
"It's okay, Melias. We had other things to deal with in Middlemist back then." Kanaru returned her hug with just a step less enthusiasm. This empress looked around his age, so it was easy to regard her as a little sister. "How have you been? Have you been planning your wedding? You must have worked hard to restore the city. Thanks a lot."
Melias shook her head. She released Kanaru and looked around. "I like strolling, so I figured I wanted to have a city to stroll in before my wedding. My father and my mother strolled around Petraskia as part of their wedding rites. If I want the same kind of wedding—I hope you don't mind my reason!"
