Along the hallway, their hurried footsteps echoed. Kanaru pulled his arm away but to no avail. "…you don't have to drag me. I can walk. What kind of mutation do you have? You can divide yourself?"
The man didn't say anything and walked Kanaru to the bridge. Along the way, the man held Kanaru's less bandaged arm. His hand was clamped like Kanaru was a dangerous criminal. Even his mouth was shut like a warden who couldn't be bothered to speak. They reached the bridge, where Almani watched the surroundings through multiple full-sized windows.
"That was quick. How are your injuries?" Almani glanced at Kanaru, who was pushed to his side. He chuckled. "My crew is a little too blunt and hard to bargain with. Was he too harsh on you?"
"What kind of gene mutation was that?" Kanaru asked again. "I've never seen anything like that before. Would they simply rejoin if they stood together?"
