Fenris led the group to the spot where the kelpies detected the strange movements. They indeed found a tunnel leading inside the island. The tunnel was nothing too big. It could be said those leviathans needed to assume a smaller form to use this entrance. The path was winding and sharp, the walls chipped as if something dug it from inside rather than from outside.
They arrived at the surface of the water, finding themselves under a dome with a broken roof. The space within the island was filled with air. They wouldn't have any problems breathing and flying around.
Fenris got out of the water and dried himself using his light. He set it to the minimum to let the knights' eyes adjust well to the dim surroundings. Since the dome shield provided dim lighting, it was not as dark as it was inside the island. This light was just not visible from the outside.
