Chapter 8: Stress
Chilli was driving back home with Wendy and the kids. Chilli looked terribly miserable. She slammed her face against the steering wheel once they came back to the Heeler house. "Mum, are you okay?" Bluey asked Chilli concernedly. "Well, maybe, I'm not sure." Chilli groaned. The Heelers and the Chow Chow walked over to the Heeler house. The kids ran to Bluey and Bingo's room, while the adults sat down looking at Chilli with a concerned look. Chilli threw the pizza box on the floor, not caring for the fact that she had made a mess.
"Just, today, I at least wanted to see Bandit today, and there he goes, going into a feral-like aggression state and almost killing Trixie and his own mum." Chilli sighed. "C'mon Chilli, it's not your fault, nor Bandit's." Wendy said as she patted Chilli's back. "Ugh." Stripe said as he facepalmed his face. "Chilli, your Dipstick Fruit Loop of a husband nearly flocking killed my wife!" Stripe yelled. Stripe then got up from the dining room chair in the Heeler house, and he left stomping out the door, calling for a taxi to pick him up to take him back to his house. "Hmm, it seems to be getting late, I'll see you tomorrow, Chilli!" Wendy said as she walked out the door. Brandy got up from the chair and went to the living room, leaving Chilli in the room all by herself.
Ding Dong* the bell rang.
Chilli never got up. She stayed sitting there on the chair, slouching onto the table, softly crying.
Ding Dong* the bell rang again.
Bluey heard the doorbell, but she knew darn well she's not allowed to go open the door by herself, so she went to get Chilli. "Mum, there's someone at the door…" Chilli got up from the chair and opened the door. On the other side was Mackenzie and his dad, Richard. "Oh, hi, Mr. Border Collie." Chilli said while quietly sobbing. "Chilli, you look horrible today. Do you want to drown all this sadness with some root beer and ginger beer I got?" Richard said with hints of excitement. "Well, no-no-" Chilli stopped, mid sentence. She wanted root beer and ginger beer more than anything, but she knew she didn't want to awoke an adult conversation in front of the kids.
The two adults walked inside the kitchen while Mackenzie walked towards Bluey and Bingo's room.
"Is it okay if I grab a glass cup?" Richard asked Chilli, "No it's fine." Chilli responded. Richard grabbed a glass cup and filled it with ginger beer while adding a little bit of root beer into it. "Hey uh, Richard? I think I do want that ginger and root beer mix." Chilli said while slightly stimming her leg. Richard then poured the root ginger beer into another glass cup and gave it to Chilli. Chilli chugged and chugged the mix. "Hey, hey Chilli, slow down, you don't have to drink it all." Richard said worrying about Chilli.
"M-may I have more?" Chilli said hesitantly.
"Chilli I think you should-"
"JUST… I had a really rough day today." Chilli said unenthusiasticlly.
Richard poured more into the glass cup. Chilli drank everything.
BRISBANE HOSPITAL 8 PM
Wendy had just arrived at the hospital. She parked Her car And went inside. To meet the same female Doberman she met earlier today. "Hello there my name is Wendy Chow. You saw me earlier today with a Blue Heeler named Bandit. I was wondering if I could visit Chilli Heeler, I'm her friend". When she said Chilli's name the Doberman looked worried.
"Oh Chilli Heeler, I'm sorry but There was an incident on floor six. And we're not allowed to let anyone enter. Unless they have a dying family member". The Nurse explained. Wendy remembered when she was in the hospital earlier that day. They had to leave early because of the unexplained incident. However when Bandit left to talk to the German shepherd. He returned with a different mood. He looked as if he had lost a part of himself. The only thing he said to her was to get in the car. She wanted to say something to him. But She felt as if she would worsen the situation.
"But is she ok, there were two Heelers in her room. One named Trixie Heeler, And another Blue Heeler with pink glasses"? Wendy asked.
"Oh, sweet Jesus". The Doberman was starting to look very nervous. She was starting to tap her foot. "Well, I don't know anything about the dogs you just told me about". Wendy noticed the Doberman was getting nervous. "You sure, There was also a kid that was wit-
"Ma'am I'm sorry but that is classified information. I suggest you leave now. Or else I will get security to throw you out. Do you understand?" The Nurse was scowling at Wendy. One of the rottweiler guards came up to the two dogs. "Is she giving you any trouble Ms. Doberman?" The female guard asked her. Wendy noticed it was the one she saw earlier today guarding the Elevator.
"Nothing is going on here. Ms. Chow was just asking if she could visit one of the Patients. And I told her she couldn't, So I assumed she was going to leave. Ain't that right Ms. Chow". The Rottweiler put her hand near her Gun. Wendy was scared. She knew she was on thin ice so she slowly left the hospital entrance. Keeping eye contact with the Guard Dog. When she got out she took a deep breath. Relieved that nothing bad happened. But at the same time, she was disappointed, That she couldn't see Chilli. She began to walk to her car until she felt a light tap on her shoulder.
"Hey you." A brown and white dachshund was in front of her. He scared Wendy, But she then remembered him. He was the same dog that was holding Socks in the Elevator. "You were with Chilli Heeler and others today, I assume you know Bandit Heeler". Dr. Kennel said.
"Yeah I'm his neighbor, Wendy Chow. Is he ok, They didn't tell me anything, All they said was it was classified information". She asked him.
"Well ma'am that is classified information. But If you could do me a favor. I can let you see Mr. Heeler". Dr. Kennel said as he began walking away. Wendy followed the dachshund, but even she kept her distance from him. Making sure he doesn't try anything. They entered through a firehouse escape door. And went up a flight of stairs. Until they entered floor six. They both got into a small laundry room. Dr. Kennel grabbed one of the Nurse's Coats And gave it to Wendy. "Why do I have to wear this"? She asked as she put it on herself.
"I don't want the guards to get suspicious of you. So you have to blend in, Also here wear this medical mask". She put on the mask, and they began to walk, But they stopped when they saw that a police dog was guarding the Door. "Hello officer, We need to see the patient. This lady is a trainee and I want to show her how we deal with sick patients who won't talk to anyone". Dr. Kennel said.
"Hold on mate, before you go in there you have to take this." The Rottweiler gave him a police pistol, which confused Wendy, why would a doctor need a gun to see a Rabies patient? Dr. Kennel took the gun and hid it in his coat. The guard dog moved aside to let them in.
Wendy was not prepared to see what was inside the room.
