Chapter 20 - Machine Man 19

Amidst the festivities of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, atop the towering skyscrapers, a human-shaped figure stood on a flying glider, leaving a trail of smoke. The onlookers gathered for the parade couldn't help but look up in awe and confusion.

Among the crowd, a man in an impressive business suit, equipped with binoculars, exclaimed, "That's our glider!" The people around him started murmuring, trying to understand the unexpected addition to the parade.

The man in the green combat suit soared through the air with the help of the glider, drawing the attention and cheers of the crowd. The onlookers assumed it was part of the parade, and excitement spread through the streets. Harry Osborn, standing alongside Mary Jane in a Cheongsam, couldn't help but mutter, "What the hell was that?" The unexpected aerial display added a sense of mystery and intrigue to the Thanksgiving celebration

As the unsuspecting crowd marveled at the green figure zigzagging between floats and balloons, the Green Goblin threw an orange orb that collided with a building and exploded. Panic ensued as debris rained down.

A man resembling Stan Lee protected a child from the chaos, and Spider-Man swung into action, creating a spider net to safeguard the people. A woman in the crowd pointed and smiled, saying, "It's Spider-Man!"

A Police officer urgently spoke into his comms, shouting "Code 3! We need immediate assistance!" The chaotic scene unfolded as emergency responders scrambled to address the unfolding crisis

On the balcony, panic erupted among Harry and other OSCORP Investors as MJ got separated when the ledge beneath her cracked. In the chaos, she screamed Harry's name. The Green Goblin closed in, trapping the Oscorp shareholders. With a chilling chuckle, he declared, "Out, am I!?" as he tossed an orange sphere with green lines. The sphere released a green light, turning the people nearby into skeletons. With that done, Green Goblin floats to Mary Jane with his glider and said "Hello My Dear"

As soon as Spider-Man ensured the safety of the citizens of New York, he swung up and delivered a drop kick to the Green Goblin. The out-of-control glider pierced through a massive balloon endangering a child, prompting Spider-Man to shout, "Move out, kid!"

Thankfully Specter appeared, using his grapple gun, he swung by and grabbed the child, ensuring their safety. Specter approached a worried lady, seemingly the child's mother, and said, "Your kid's safe now. Find a safe place."

The police quickly rushed towards the Green Goblin, guns drawn. With a raspy voice, the Green Goblin raised his hands in mock surrender, saying, "I surrender." Spider-Man, observing the tense scene, muttered, "Oh boy," his concern evident for both the police and the unpredictable Green Goblin.

As the police approached cautiously, the Green Goblin swiftly launched into action, delivering powerful punches that sent each officer sprawling to the ground, incapacitated. Spider-Man, alarmed by the sudden turn of events, he lunged to intervene, throwing a punch at the Green Goblin. However, the menacing figure effortlessly blocked the attack, commenting with a hint of amusement, "Impressive," before countering with a kick that sent Spider-Man airborne.

Reacting swiftly, Specter intervened to prevent Spider-Man from colliding with anyone. "Easy there, Spidey," Specter quipped, his mechanical voice resonating with a calm tone.

Meanwhile, the Green Goblin, perched on his glider, seized the opportunity to catch the heroes off guard. "Time for some fireworks!" he declared, cackling maniacally as he soared.

Using the glider's mounted guns, he unleashed a barrage of bullets toward Spider-Man and Specter. Specter, utilizing his cybernetic enhancements, expertly intercepted the bullets, ensuring no harm befell anyone nearby. "These bullets won't do you any good" Specter remarked, his eyes glowing with intensity.

Specter raised his gun, Skippy, and with the assistance of his cybernetics and Skynet, he predicted the trajectory of each bullet. He skillfully fired his smart pistol, intercepting and neutralizing every bullet that the Green Goblin had unleashed.

Assessing the situation, Specter determined that their best course of action was to lure the Green Goblin away from the crowded area. Specter said "We need to lead him away from the people," Spider-Man, in agreement, swiftly swung up to one of the floats.

However, Spider-Man's attention was abruptly diverted by a scream. "HELP!" To his astonishment, the source of the cry turned out to be Mary Jane, a former classmate and crush. Spider-Man, propelled by a newfound urgency, leaped from one float to another, determined to reach Mary Jane in time.

Taking this opportunity, the Green Goblin ascended on his glider, intending to pursue Spider-Man. Witnessing the impending threat, Specter swiftly utilized his grapple gun, firing a shot at the glider. As the grappling hook securely latched onto the glider and Specter, with his mechanically altered voice, bellowed, "Get over here!" executing a powerful tug.

In a desperate attempt, the Green Goblin turned around and engaged his booster, aiming the pointed end of the glider with the intent to impale Specter. Acting swiftly, Specter extended his cybernetic arm just in time to intercept the deadly attack.

Seizing the opportunity, Specter aimed his smart pistol Skippy, with a shot that struck one of the glider's wings, disrupting its balance and forcing the Green Goblin to struggle for control.

Frustrated by the interference, the Green Goblin retaliated by hurling one of his pumpkin bombs at Specter. Analyzing the situation, Specter retreated, releasing his grip on the glider and leaping backward to a safe distance just as the explosive device detonated.

Spider-Man swung down, catching MJ in his arms just as the Green Goblin seized the opportunity to escape. Safely placing MJ down, Spider-Man turned his attention to Specter and asked, "Shouldn't we chase him?"

Specter, with a calm demeanor, replied, "I was waiting for you. I almost thought you were going to take her swimming across New York, considering she used to be your crush."

Spider-Man shot him a look and retorted, "Don't say that. Someone would be angry at me again, and I'd have to sleep on the couch."

Specter chuckled, "Let's chase him," as the HK-Aerial slowly revealed itself, decloaking above them. Using his grappling hook, Specter gracefully entered the aircraft, and Spider-Man, with a swing of his web, followed suit.

As Specter navigated to the cockpit, Spider-Man, somewhat bewildered, questioned, "Wait, you know how to fly this thing? Aren't you going to ask Skynet to, you know, control it instead?" He quickly secured himself with a seatbelt.

Specter, with a smirk, responded, "Of course, I know how to. It feels better to pilot this yourself than rely on anyone else, no offense, Skynet."

Skynet's voice echoed through the speaker, saying, "None taken."

In the HK-Aerial, the bright midday sun lit up the city as they chased the Green Goblin and his smoking glider through the skyline. Spider-Man, dressed in his vibrant suit, turned to Specter, his cyber-enhanced friend, with a curious and concerned expression.

"So, who's the green guy?" Spider-Man asked.

Specter, his demeanor cool and composed, replied, "Norman Osborn. He took an experimental serum and gained another personality, calling himself the Green Goblin."

Spider-Man, visibly surprised, questioned, "Like schizophrenia?"

Specter nodded, "Yeah, but worse. It's like there are two battling personalities in him."

The chase continued, and the Green Goblin landed forcefully on an abandoned construction site. Specter spoke to Skynet, instructing, "Take control. We'll deal with the target."

Swiftly, Specter disappeared using his chameleon cloak, while Spider-Man swung down with his web, muttering, "I hate it when he does that."

They pursued the Green Goblin, hoping to capture Norman Osborn to stop him. The city below, oblivious to the impending clash, continued its normal routine.
