A cacophony of voices sang. A symphony of angels. The choir of God. Seraphs lined up, and bowed as god walked through the prestine floors of heaven. God smiled as he watched the world he so created for his own entertainment. Like a cruel angel he smiled, and ordered.
"Go my angels, and begin the descent. For now my entertainment begins. I hope you entertain me. For I your creator demands it." God said sentencing humanity to be a mere plaything for God himself. A few angels tried to argue against it but god proposed something.
"If you truly want humanity to be free then go. Angels prove that humans can rise against me. Go forth, and find people suitable as it's heroes. Kill me, and give me a death I so wished. I don't care. After all. Being god is a curse." God said disgusted at himself for being immortal, and all powerful. Wanting to end himself. He doesn't care about who dies. Him, his angels, humans, spirits, demi humans. To him they are all playthings for his entertainment. He couldn't care less if he dies for he has grown cynical, frustrated, and hateful to both himself, and his creations. Years of creation, and destruction has made him insane. Frustrated about his immortality he tries to end creation, and begin a new. Without angels, God, demons, or the supernatural.
God has gone mad… The angels are now mobilitizing, and the drums of the seraphs are sounding for war. A war against God's creations. Jesus, garbiel, and a couple hundred angels tried to say their displeasure of having to go to war with God's creations but our pleas were on deaf ears. Suddenly the seraphs began singing, the other angels stopped, and listened.
"Like an angel who has forsaken sympathy, go forth o' savior, and become a legend!~"
"Come oh blessed savior, and guide us to salvation! O' savior heed our calling~"
"Guide us through this weary wicked world, and lead us to paradise, o' blessed savior~"
"Come, sweet savior, come blessed be thy name! O world, you torture chamber, oh! Stay with your lamentations in this world of sorrow, it is heaven that I desire, death and the savior shall bring me there. Come, o' blessed rest!~"
"Come, sweet death, come o' blessed rest! Oh, that I were but already there among the hosts of angels, out of this black world into the blue, starry firmament, up to heaven. O blessed rest!~"
"Come, sweet death, come blessed rest! I will now see the blessed savior, and stand among the angels. It is henceforth completed, so, world, good night, my eyes are already closed. Come, o' blessed rest.~"
God laughed, and smiled as he had gone mad. The one the humans called the merciful, and just God was now trying to wipe them out just because he felt bored, and frustrated. The irony was not lost on me. I could only laugh at how this has happened. A god who has gone mad from eternity.
The other angels equipped their weapons, and turned into their natural forms readying for war with their master's creations. The cherubs turned into chimera's, the seraphs turned into heavenly dragons, while most of the ranks turned into humanoid monsters. The things the humans called angels were unlike the angels they so dreamed of. In fact they were quite the opposite. They're the same as the monsters they so fought against to prove that they were worthy of being on God's paradise. Earth, Terra, etc. It has many names but it's mostly called Earth.
Jesus, Gabriel, and the other guardian angels of humanity just sat there watching while shedding a tear on what's to come. Metatron was crying as he held his favorite human soul in the palm of his hand. The other human sympathetic angels wept as the beginning of the end times for this world has begun.
"We must pray for their souls. For what's to come. May they have a blessed rest for all eternity…." Gabriel said giving up.
"What?! We can't just forsake them like this?! Especially when they believed on us the most?!" I screamed. Gabriel just looked at me with pity, and laughed.
"Resistance is futile Raphael. The human race is doomed." I clenched my fists. Why? Why did this have to happen?
"I know Raphael. I've quite grown close to humans. But this is God's will. We couldn't just betray him. I quite like the stories I've made because of them. I've quite grown fond of the heroes I've guided. But we couldn't disobey him in fear of being sentenced as fallen angels." Metatron said. I watched as Michael rallied the armies of god. I could see his face, saddened at the fact that he had to kill the humans he had grown to like. But Michael still was resolute on his devotion to God. The angels around me had their devotion to god wane as they were ordered to end the human race on a whim. The God they so revered was now a hollow husk of his former self. The God who was once filled with vigor on creation was now dead set in ending his creations on a whim just to entertain him. The others looked disappointed, and wanted to defect.
Suddenly God looked at us smiling. "So the Guardian angels of humanity. Well. I have a proposition to offer you, lot." God said while looking at us. We bowed.
"What do you want to propose to us, our dear creator?" We all said before he laughed.
"Well. If you love humanity so badly why don't you guide them? Be one of their saviors. How about this…" God paused to look at us, watching how many of us really want to protect humanity. Watching our reaction about what he's about to say. "Be their living weapons. Be their weapons against me, and in exchange if they fall you will not be branded as fallen but instead promoted as seraphs, and will be given seats right beside the seraphs. When one of your chosen heroes fall you, and the hero you have chosen will be given seats as angels. They, and you will not die as in oblivion but instead be given seats as angels in heaven. For you that has already become angels you will climb in rank, and those in the highest of ranks will be given seats near me, and Jesus. Is that fair?" Asked God curious on how we will answer his proposition.
Many of the angels looked up, and smiled. "We accept!" They screamed and god smiled. Suddenly he snapped his fingers, and the angels turned into weapons. Suddenly the angels who were now weapons quickly turned into a bright ball, and scattered towards earth.
"I will give you two days to give your answer." God said before leaving to go see Michael. Metatron, Gabriel, Sariel (who has grown quite fond of humans for their capacity to kill the monsters God created as challenges to see if they are worthy to ascend to heaven as angels or as saints.), and lastly me, watched as God started to command his army.
"So can I go? I really want to join the humans. I love a good underdog story. Even if I end up dying tragically it's going to be fun." Sarie or Sariel the air head between us archangels said which made me, and metatron sigh.
"I don't know about that Sariel. I wonder if we get the Lucifer treatment? I mean he was tricked by god just for fun, and caused that much of a ruckus that he had to tell him it was a joke (it really wasn't, god just did it because he was bored and wanted to see angels kill each other for his entertainment), and Lucifer didn't believe him. Causing lucifer, and his army of angels being banished to hell. The place where God's disliked creations go." Metatron asked. Gabriel sighed.
"Yeah. Maybe this is some test." Gabriel said. I looked at the visage of earth in a orb, and touched it. I'm… so sorry humans…. I felt so bad for them. I mean God has practically gone insane. With a single whim they have been condemned to death without any further justification other than 'i want to do it'. I mean he is petty, and pretty much just like his favorite creations the humans who he modeled after himself. Hell one time he flooded earth just to see what happens, and thought of wiping out the things that he didn't like as a plus. He really was that kind of person. If you asked someone what kind of person God is to us angels. We'll tell you he's the type of person that would do anything he liked despite being hypocritical to some of his values. He's the saying 'fuck it we ball' personafied.
"Well that could be true Meta. But Gab maybe that isn't true? Maybe what God is saying true?" Sarie said.
Suddenly God went towards us, and answered. "No. It isn't a test. What I said is the truth, and a promise that." God said before leaving to go back to commanding his army.
"They I choose to side with the humans." Sarie said and she suddenly turned into a weapon, and got turned into a orb of light to be sent towards Earth.
"Uh… I'll pass." Gabriel said, and Metatron agreed. I just stood there wondering…..
Should I join Sarie? Should I help the humans even if it's futile? To comfort them, and give them a false sense of hope? Even if that chance of success of miniscule there's still a chance for the humans to survive. I sighed.
I then thought about it for the next 6 hours. I felt guilt as I thought about abandoning the humans. I mean they gave me their devotion, and trusted me to protect them yet in their darkest moments I leave them to die.
I then sobbed at the 6th hour mark. Breaking down at the intense guilt of leaving the humans i vowed to protect, and guide. Gabriel tried to comfort me for it but the more I heard about it the more i sank into sadness. They gave me their faith for centuries, and this is how I repay it? How could I just stand and watch as the humans I protected, and guided for centuries die by their cruel creator's hands? I clenched my fists in anger. How could I stand around, and let this injustice happen?! The dozens of heroes I helped raise would be disappointed at me right now. I could feel their hateful, and disapproving gazes right now. Even in death they still haunted me. The heroes I failed to protect…. I clenched my fists even tighter, and sobbed as I remembered their awful deaths by catastrophes created by God himself to test humanity's meddle…. Why does this all have to happen? After the 12th hour mark I decided on an answer.
"I'll join Sariel." I shouted. And God just smiled before snapping his fingers. Suddenly a piece of parchment appeared before me, and let me choose two weapons that I could turn into.
A staff, or a shield.
I chose the shield because it'll physically protect the hero I chose, and because a staff is pretty much a support class weapon since human mages shouldn't be in the Frontline.
Suddenly I turned into a shield, and my mind went blank as the world around me grew dark.
