The journey back was grueling, with Jodi barely allowing for any breaks for rest. Nate had hoped to get the chance to know his new teammates better, but Jodi was hell-bent on returning as fast as possible.
The entire team, minus Stan and Jodi, were completely exhausted. Their bodies ached and dark bags had formed under their eyes from lack of sleep. They were all grateful when the capital city finally came into view, its familiar silhouette a welcome sight on the horizon.
Groaning in relief at the sight, Nate hoped he wouldn't have to go on any more long trips with Jodi. The psychotic professor was truly monstrous in her determination to get back as quickly as possible, seemingly immune to fatigue herself.
