Selene's sharp eyes caught the pallor of Laura's face as the group dispersed after their mission. Her friend's usually vibrant features were ashen, eyes vacant and unfocused. Without hesitation, she approached Stan, her steps purposeful despite her own exhaustion.
"Master, Laura needs a proper room tonight."
Stan's calculating gaze flickered between them, a fleeting shadow of concern passing over his features. He nodded, reaching into his pocket to produce two iron keys.
"Here," he said, pressing one into Selene's palm. "Take care of her." His tone, usually playful, held a note of softness that didn't escape Selene's notice.
Stan then turned to Rob, who had been hovering nearby, an eager gleam in his eyes. "Rob, you and Nate can use this room," he said, offering the second key.
