Nate awoke to the sound of quiet humming. As he blinked away the remnants of sleep, he found himself staring at an unfamiliar ceiling adorned with intricate frescoes. The events of the morning came rushing back - he was in Chloe's room, in the royal palace.
"Rise and shine, sleepyhead!" Chloe's cheerful voice rang out.
Nate groaned and pulled the silky sheets over his head. "Five more minutes," he mumbled.
"Oh no, you don't," Chloe laughed, yanking the sheets away. "We've got a royal luncheon to attend, remember?"
Nate sat up, his hair sticking out in all directions. "Royal luncheon? I thought it was just lunch with your parents."
Chloe rolled her eyes. "In this palace, even a simple sandwich becomes a royal affair. Now come on, we need to get you looking presentable."
As Nate stumbled out of bed, he nearly tripped over a small, furry creature that darted between his legs. "What in the world?"
