As Don walked down the dark alley he flicked a bronze coin in the air humming to himself as he eyed a noble couple walking opposite of him. With a slight bump, he sent the man to the ground
"Hey watch where you're going, you animal!"
Don would offer his hand out to help the man up and once the man finally allowed him to help him up he would gently pat the man's brown coat clean of any dirt that he got on it during his fall. Without the man's knowledge, he would gently pull off his gold watch then as he would adjust the man's coat and tie he would slide the man's wallet from his inner coat down into his long-sleeved shirt. After he was finished taking everything from him he walked right past them apologizing before disappearing Into the Night. The man didn't notice he had been robbed until Don was completely out of sight; he wasn't stopping him now Don laughed up a storm as he climbed up a nearby fire escape and rushed up the stairs until he got the ladder that led to the roof.
Holding the wallet in his mouth he gently climbed it getting onto the roof of the apartments finally feeling like this was a good time to rest he would sit on the rough flat roof. Pulling the wallet from his pocket he opened it to his amazement, it was full to the brim with many golden paper bills in this section of the kingdom one of these could pay for an entire car heck maybe even the dealership. He was going to be eating well for a while now all that was left was for him to figure out what he wanted to do with all this cash he couldn't just go around spending this type of money anywhere; it would look too suspicious he would be reported to the guards right away. So clearly he is going to have to get change first if he even wants to spend anything he could get quite a sum of silver and brown bills that would be wise for now. Thankfully he knew the perfect place pulling all the rest of the paper bills from the wallet he would toss the rest of the contents of the wallet off the roof. The cards had no use to him, they had too many contingencies stopping crooks like him from stealing money from them, and also not to mention the banks have dangerous Mercenaries that pretty much do their bidding at the snap of a finger.
He heard stories of those who have stolen from Noble banks not even getting the full 24 hours to enjoy the money; they either end up arrested or dead, mostly the latter. Stretching his legs he would rush over to the opposite end of the roof and jump off of it landing softly atop a street light looking below to make sure no one was around he would slide down its long post. The place he needed to go was only a few blocks from where he was; it was hidden underground so no unwanted guests could find it. Checking his Phone's GPS every few seconds as he walked he would finally get to the section of a park with tons of large porta-potties he remembered the entrance being one of the porta-potties but could not tell which one. Taking a wild guess he picked the one farthest to the left tapping the front of his foot on the ground he heard a metallic clink below him. This luckily was the right one he crouched to the ground typing in something on his phone causing the small Square platform to slowly lower once it was far below the porta potty the platform would stop then out of the bottom of it large glass walls would shoot up from below him locking him in place as he would shoot across the metallic wall sending him through a large colorful portal.
He was used to this so nothing surprised him anymore once he finally got into the new building the platform would lower onto the ground next to many others at that point he would step out. The building was booming with the sounds of chatter and music. This place was his party hideout the reason why it was so big and so greatly hidden was that well his party had over 3,000 active members they were pretty much one big family of mercenaries, cons, assassins, and Hired Guns and this wasn't even everyone many other members don't always come here most of the time he didn't either but this is the only place he could trust to exchange his money. He waved to a few faces he recognized before walking up to the bar. He took the golden bills from his pocket and slammed them down on the counter. The bartender smiled at him seeing the stack of money
"You got quite the sum huh brother"
"What can I say? It's just so easy" smugly responded back
The bartender nodded "So what can I do for you"
"I wish to exchange this cash for some lower currency can't spend this on the surface without bringing unwanted attention to myself"
The bartender's eyes would widen "Are you sure I think more than one of these and the machine might break"
"That so? Hm then just take one but I'll still leave the rest here so please put it in my "saving" account"
The bartender would nod, taking the money away as Don waited. He would playfully roll around on the stool only stopping when someone called out his name
"Hey, Donnie boy, come over here."
Don would walk over to the person calling him
It was Red, their leader who was with his many wives and husbands. He had about three wives and three husbands so there were six of them in all sitting next to him. He was a feminine-looking boy whose throne tattoo was around his neck. Everyone here had one even Don his was around his forearm
"Yes sir, can I help you?"
"You can drop the sir I'm just Red we knew each other since we were kids you don't have to call me Red brother"
"Right sorry"
"No worries brother I have a question for you Is all"
"Yes?"
"I'm setting up a team of people for a big heist I could use someone of your Talent"
Don would meet red eyes "What's the heist? What are we taking?"
Red would snap his fingers causing one of his wives to hand him a tablet. After a few taps on its surface, it would project a hologram of a human exoskeleton with a large outer metallic casing.
"What is this?" Don would ask
Red would smile "It's a Titan, some real sci-fi type shit bulletproof, super strength, super speed, and with almost unlimited power due to its unlimited energy-producing core it's some real big league shit."
"Sounds like it but escaping with that seems impossible"
"Well I'm not after the entire thing I only want its core"
"Already Sounds a bit too dangerous for my liking no tech like that isn't just there for the taking who knows what traps they have set up defending it"
Red would scuff at Don's comment crossing his arms as one of his wives would gently swipe the screen of the tablet to project a holographic projection of the facility
"We were able to find all the traps and have already found multiple Solutions to disarm them"
Red would butt in "Look Don we can't force you but selling one of these things could help everyone here out I mean look around they are sick leaving in hiding barely being able to survive we deserve to be free."
Don would think to himself for a bit for as long as he could remember these people were all he had and most of them now were struggling to be prideful to ask for aid. if he could help with this and it sells enough maybe things will finally change around here
"Fine I'll help"
Red would smile "Great this will bring billions of dollars to the camp you have no idea how much you just helped us brother"
Don would bow "It is my honor brother."
After a few hours Red, Don, and a couple of trained Mercenaries from the building would get into a hovercraft. It would take another couple of hours to get to the next country where this facility was located. After cloaking their hovercraft they would just hover right above the building. Each of them would put on a mask before jumping out of the hovercraft and onto the roof once they were all safely on the ground Red would click something on his watch causing the power to the entire building to go out.
"We only have 10 minutes before the backup generator turns back on. It should be right down the hall from here in and out, got it?"
They would nod
Using a small explosion device they would blow a hole in the top layer of the building just big enough for them to all jump through and they did. Right in front of them was a large silver vault that was definitely where what they were after was. Gently stepping over the collapse security Bots that lay on the floor they would get to the vault and this is where Don comes in. Using brute strength alone he would grip onto the silver vault door's large hinges crushing one of them with ease and then crushing the other just as easily. Once that was done he moved it so it was resting on the wall as the other walked in. This was way easier than he thought it would be now all that was left was pulling the core from the Titans. Red would just rip open its chest and pull the core from its now exposed opening. As he held it he would observe it with a smile on his face
"Beauty isn't it?"
"Got that right" one of the mercenaries would respond
As they began to walk out to leave a voice would speak over the intercom
"You fuckheads thought I would just let you steal my tech no no I don't know how you found this facility but it will not be that easy."
The security bots in the hallway would suddenly begin to power on their joints snapped back to life as they rushed at their crew.
"How are they moving Red!"
"This guy must be using his backup generator to power up his defensive capabilities. I didn't know he could do that so fast."
They would shoot at the machines but the bullets would only deflect off them.
"Damn it boss these bullets aren't working!" one of the Mercenaries would scream before being impaled through the chest by one of the robots' hands.
"Nooo!" Don would punch one of them cracking its metallic casing in one strike causing it to collapse to the ground in a heap. Red would try his best to fend off as many as he could using his large battle ax to cut a couple in half but even he knew he could not do this for long.
Red would yell into his watch "BRING THE HOVERCRAFT OVER HERE NOW"
Without a second thought, the pilot would fly the hovercraft just above where Red and the others were. Don hearing it just above them would launch an explosive at the ceiling blowing a hole just large enough for the aircraft to lower into. Though it could now get much closer this was the best they could before they wouldn't have even been able to reach its ladder. As the members aboard the hovercraft would lower the ladder, Red would toss the energy core to Don; he was planning on buying as much time for them to leave as he could.
But as they were fighting to survive, the creator of the core they were trying to steal had other plans. He was planning on blowing up the entire facility in the hope that none of them could escape with his technology in the wrong hands; there would be no telling what someone could do. So reluctantly he would push the button on his desk triggering an explosion in the building. Don and the others could see the flame ripping through the walls as the explosions started to race toward them. There was only one thing he could do without any thought: he pulled red by his collar and launched him into the air towards one of the members on the ladder who would catch him with his free hand. He would then throw the core towards Red who would catch it with both hands
Red face would frown sadly "DON NO YOU CAN'T WE CAN STILL SAVE YOU PLEASE!"
Don just smiled at Red as the hovercraft pulled out of the building just before Don was consumed by a blaze of fire. He could still hear Red Screaming out for him as his flesh burned away and the roof came crashing onto him. As Dom laid on his back under all the debris in his final moments all he could think about was how he wasted his life away being a crook being a criminal when he could have been something better. His entire life flashed before his eyes but the final darkness he awaited was replaced by the vision of a strange knight sitting on a large boulder.
"Donn Van Hyden"
"Who are you"
"That doesn't matter who were you?"
Don would be shocked "What are you talking about, what is this!"
"I'm your second chance"
"My second chance, what are you talking about?!"
The knight turned to face Don his face covered by a helmet "Through all your life I have watched you I truly do believe that there is more to you than meets the eye. I believe you have great potential no I know you have great potential. I know you can be Good because I have seen it"
Don would stay silent
"Look I won't say it will be easy but I know for sure you can be someone who inspires others to do good not follow evil. I will be right by your side molding you into the greatest person I believe you can be I wish to make you a squire so that one day through much training you may carry on my legacy as a knight"
"you really would just give me another chance ?"
The knight would look away while he answered "As long as you promise to follow my teachings and leave your life of Crime behind permanently I will travel with you and train you until you are a perfect hero if you can promise you will at least try I will be more than willing So what do you say do you agree to my terms" The knight would hold out his hand
Don would think he was lost before in life but this could give him his life that's all he wanted now was to die with a good purpose meaning he would shake the knight's hand.
After they would shake hands the knight would glow just before Don's eyes would open in real life. He was lying in a hospital bed tied to a bunch of machinery he must have been captured. He could barely move. The pain was excruciating as it radiated all over his body; it was like nonstop needles stabbing into his skin as the wind blew on him from the open window.
Was this the knight's second chance?
