Chapter 26 - Unknown Fate

Fourth Division Barracks.

Coordinated Relief Station.

Unlike the atmosphere in other Divisions, the Fourth Division was often busy.

Division members carrying medical kits could be seen coming and going with tense faces. Some pushed around various surgical instruments, others carried various medicines, and some were busy recording complex information on forms.

On top of their duty as part of Gotei 13, the Fourth Division was also responsible for treating the injured tasks for the entire Soul Society and Seireitei.

Soul Reaper and some Nobles would come to the Fourth Division for treatment whenever they feelt unwell.

This led to the fact that they were still short on hands even though the number of Fourth Division Division members was almost the highest among the Thirteen Court Guard Divisions.

Yagawa and Satoya skillfully maneuvered through the crowd, heading directly to the emergency room of the Coordinated Relief Station.

Although this arose some curses from others, they paid no attention.

Their Captain's intimidating aura still lingered in their minds.

They didn't dare to imagine the consequences if they failed even in simple tasks assigned by their Captain.

"Hmm? The former Fifth Seat of the Ninth Division, Kaname Tosen..."

A figure blocked the path in front of the emergency room, and with a wave of his hand, stabilized Kaname Tosen's vital sign.

"Vice-Captain Seinosuke."

Yagawa recognized the person and, with a slightly anxious expression, requested, "Please treat Fifth Seat Kaname Tosen. If his treatment is even slightly late, I'm afraid..."

After a brief examination, Seinosuke Yamada furrowed his brow and, with an undisguised tone of disgust, said, "Not another arrogant fool! Considering his injuries, did he challenge Kenpachi Zaraki of the Eleventh Division?"

As an excellent Kaido user second only to Captain Unohana Retsu in the Soul Society, Seinosuke Yamada had a notably unpleasant personality.

He had no respect for anyone other than Unohana Retsu.

Not even the other Captains were exempt from his disdain.

"Take him to the emergency room."

Seinosuke Yamada grumbled, "Perfect, I've recently developed a new type of Kaido specifically for stitching physical injuries."

Yagawa and Satoya hurriedly entered the emergency room.

What greeted their eyes were sophisticated medical instruments and unidentified spiritual tools engraved with various Kido spells.

Everything before them exceeded their understanding.

So much so that they stood stupefied in place for a while.

"What are you morons waiting for?"

Seinosuke Yamada walked into the emergency room, took out sterilized gloves from a nearby counter, and put them on proficiently.

"Place this guy on the third surgical table on the left. Toss his severed arm into the black liquid next to it."

"Once you're done, leave!"

Yagawa looked at the surgical table in front of him with a suspicion and hesitated for a moment.

A simple wooden board, stacked with various complex Kido spells, outlining one strange pattern after another.

Completely different from the construction of other surgical tables.

"Captain Unohana is out collecting medicinal herbs."

Seinosuke Yamada stood expressionless behind the two, speaking in a cold tone, "If you keep dilly-dallying, this fool will definitely die."

Hearing this, the two dared not hesitate any longer and placed Kaname Tosen on the surgical table.

As his body touched the wooden board, a dim Kido glow surged, and the stacked Kido spells seemed to squirm like a marsh, quickly engulfing Kaname Tosen.

Seeing this, the two exchanged a glance, both seeing a sense of helplessness in each other's eyes.

Seinosuke Yamada had quite a reputation among Seated Officers and Division members.

Although his proficiency in Kaido was astonishing, his methods in medical treatment were ruthless. He would use anything at his disposal to heal a patient.

Just like now.

In the current situation, they dared not guarantee what Kaname Tosen would become after the treatment was over.

But it was a done deal, and saying anything more would be meaningless.

Under the disapproving gaze of Seinosuke Yamada, the two also left the emergency room, leaving the stage for his performance.

Looking at the closed door for a moment, Yagawa said with a thoughtful expression:

"I hope that guy won't end worse than he should..."

Upon hearing those words, Satoya shuddered as if recalling some unpleasant memories.

...

Ninth Division Barracks.

Kaname Tosen's presence undoubtedly helped solve trouble for Tokikaze.

The Division members of the Ninth Division were not convinced by their new Captain. Even after he intimidated them with Reiatsu, they didn't submit.

However, after a battle, those guys finally respected him. In their eyes when they looked at Tokikaze, there was admiration.

The mess on the courtyard had not been completely cleaned up yet. The remaining bloodstains and dirt were deeply imprinted in the minds of the Division members.

The courage and strength of their Captain were no less than that of Captains from other Divisions.

After witnessing this battle, many Division members had already compared Tokikaze with Zaraki Kenpachi.

"Is there any objection to the orders I issued earlier?"

When the crowd gathered again in the courtyard, Tokikaze scanned the surroundings and calmly asked.

There was only a dead silence in response.

Even Matsumoto Rangiku and Nanao Ise, who stood behind Tokikaze, seemed unusually quiet.

Having spent so much time together, Rangiku was experiencing Tokikaze's fierceness for the first time, and for a moment, she had trouble adapting.

As for Nanao Ise, she recalled a certain intelligence mission and, amidst her tumultuous thoughts, she also began to feel a bit of awe towards Tokikaze.

"If no one objects, it means you all agree."

Tokikaze waved his hand, "Those who are from Rukongai will have to stay behind. The rest can leave and continue your previous tasks."

A large number of Division members respectfully bowed and then hurriedly left the courtyard.

Although they didn't understand the meaning behind Tokikaze's order, being able to leave this place made them feel relieved.

There were only about ten members that stayed behind.

In Rukongai, where it was survival of the fittest, competition was fierce. There were only few that had innate spiritual power, and there were even less of them that became Soul Reaper.

Their mental resilience was also stronger than other Soul Reapers.

Tokikaze looked at the ten people in front of him, nodded, and said calmly:

"I don't like to repeat myself."

"Get yourself ready and come with me to execute a mission in Rukongai."

Upon hearing this, the anxious Division members couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief.

It turned out to be just a mission...

"The destination of this mission is District 78, Inuzuri, in South Rukongai."

Tokikaze continued, "Recently, information provided by the Eighth Division mentioned that the lower-ranking noble Kuragawa Clan monopolized drinking water resources, causing a small-scale disturbance and resulting in significant casualties."

"The mission requires capturing all individuals involved with the Kuragawa Clan and throwing them to the prison..."
