'Ah! There they are...' Ron breathed a sigh of relief when he finally caught sight of the two teenagers crawling along the side of the bottom-most bench while trying not to get hit by the red and green flashes of spells flying by.
'Now, to reach them...' Ron quickly scouted everything happening in the room, before deciding that barreling into the fights while screaming his head out like a typical Gryffindor wouldn't work here, and instead sneaking in silently would be much better and safer.
So he decided to do just that... he slowly but quickly lowered himself onto the uppermost bench and then began silently leaping down from step to step while always moving through the emptier area of the room where no battles were happening.
He also made sure to keep his eyes on all the nearby battles at all times, so that no stray spell could take him down or blast him to pieces accidentally.
But sneaking down silently meant that he was a lot slower and since magical battles usually don't last very long, Ron got a front-row seat to watch as the battles started going sideways for the Order.
He watched as Mad-eye took down one of his assailants and was in turn taken down by his other opponent, Dolohov.
Dolohov, then immediately went for the Gryffindors, he first took down Neville with the tap dancing spell, Tarantallegra, and then got into a fight with Harry which the kid almost lost in just two exchanges, but thankfully Sirius intervened at that exact moment and distracted the brute which gave Harry the chance to sneak in a Petrificus Totalus, and take him down.
But then before Sirius could help the boys, Bellatrix managed to take down her opponent, Tonks and once again joined the fray so Sirius was forced to engage her in battle.
With his wand held tightly in his hand, Ron was tempted quite a few times to intervene and help the Order members in their battles but ultimately he controlled himself and held back as he knew that almost all of them would make it through alive so instead of complicating things, he should focus on the only one who didn't...
By the time Ron made it to his friends, they had gotten already entangled with another Death Eater, this one without a mask.
But this time Ron didn't hesitate for a single moment and immediately took his chance while the Death Eater had his back turned towards him.
"Stupefy," he shouted while flicking his wand.
Lucius didn't even get a chance to turn his head as the red beam struck him squarely in the back freezing him and rendering him unconscious.
The blond Death Eater's limp form toppled towards the ground, freeing up Harry, whom he was threatening at wand point to get the Prophecy.
"Ron!!" Harry breathed in disbelief and relief before lowering his wand as his best friend jogged up to him while crouching down and dodging a stray spell, "How did you—are you back to being sane now?!" he asked while looking into Ron's eyes to see if the Death Eater's spell which had made loopy still help effect.
"Huh? O-Oh, Yes, I am fine now," Ron hurriedly said while waving his hands, "Fit as fiddle, the Brain thingy shook me awake from the spell,"
"Oh?!" Harry nodded his head with a confused look on his face but didn't ask any more about it, "A-And what about the others?"
"They are alive. Ginny's awake and keeping watch over them," Ron answered grimly before turning towards Neville whose legs were still tap dancing irrespective of his will, "Here let me help you, Neville. Finite."
"Thanbs, Bon—" Neville couldn't even finish expressing his gratitude as his legs abruptly stopping mid-dance had the adverse effect of unbalancing him and making him slip.
"Ugh!" Neville barely managed to grab the steps at the last moment to save himself, but he couldn't do the same for the prophecy ball he was holding onto, "Oh! No!" The glass ball slipped from his hand and he could only watch helplessly as it smashed against the floor, shattering into a thousand pieces.
All three of them stared at the place where it had broken as a pearly white figure with large magnified eyes rose into the air. Its mouth was moving but amidst all the crashes and screams, the sound was completely inaudible. When the prophecy was finished, the figure dissolved into nothingness.
"I'b sorry, Harry. I dibn't bean do—"
"It doesn't matter! I-I don't care about it—" Harry began while shaking his head but was interrupted midway.
"Harry, round up the other and go!" shouted Remus as he passed them by while battling fiercely with a masked Death Eater.
"Y-Yes!" Harry yelled back, "He's right, we should move, Neville. Can you stand up on your own." he asked and Neville nodded his head while propping himself back on his feet which felt a bit like jelly after all the dancing. "Let's go then. Come on, Ron... Ron?!"
Harry turned around to find his best friend intently focused on the battle happening in front of the Veil between Sirius and Bellatrix while ignoring everything else.
The battle was so intense and fast that both of their hands were nothing more than a blur and neither of them seemed to be in the mood to use anything less than fatal spells.
They saw Sirius duck Bellatrix's jet of red light: He was laughing at her. "Come on, you can do better than that!" he yelled, his voice echoing around the cavernous room.
But the next jet of spell sprung from her wand immediately after, and Sirius's carelessness meant that he wasn't in any position to dodge it.
"Porteg—" cried Ron the moment he saw the jet of light leave her wand, but unfortunately even though he was ready, Bellatrix's spell was still insanely fast and hit Sirius squarely on the chest before Ron could complete the incantation and his shield could materialize.
"Sirius!!" Harry's grief-filled scream echoed in the room as he saw with a horrified gaze the exact moment, his Godfather's recklessness cost him his battle.
Sirius seemed to take ages to fall, his face still held a trace of laughter while his eyes were filled with surprise. Harry tried to raise his wand but he was too slow to do anything but watch as his only family in the world fell towards the misty archway of the Veil.
But unlike Harry, Ron had been prepared for something like this so after failing with his first plan, he immediately went for the second, "Accio Sirius!"
It was only as the magic of the summoning spell left his wand did Ron belatedly remembered an inane point that Professor Flitwick had emphasised during the Charms class, that the summoning charm doesn't work on living things, "Oh, No!"
But miraculously the spell worked... and Sirius's body stopped just short of the Veil.
Then as if he was dragged by an invisible hook, Siruis flew through the air towards the Gryffindor boys, but along with the body came the attention of one of the most dangerous person in the room.
Bellatrix's blazing eyes looked down at them with such extreme anger that it made Ron instinctively shiver in fear.
Then without saying a single word, she slashed her wand and sent a purple spell screaming towards him.
The spell was in front of Ron before he could even think about cancelling the Accio charm... but thankfully his friend was there to back him up.
"Portego!" screamed Harry with all his might... but it wasn't enough as the sheer force of her spell almost tore through his shield and blasted him off the floor.
Thankfully, the shield managed to absorb most of the impact and deflected the rest into the air making it harmless. But Bellatrix wasn't done yet and sent her next spell almost immediately after.
"Portego!"
Fortunately, Ron had managed to secure Sirius's body by then so he was able to protect them from her attack this time. But similarly to Harry, he wasn't able to endure the force of her spell and slammed into the wall right next to Harry.
The collision with the wall had taken all the breath out of him and he had just barely managed to hold onto his wand but it was useless as neither he nor Harry would be able to recover in time and Bellatrix wasn't in the mood to show any mercy.
"Avada Ked—" but unfortunately for her, she was once again interrupted before she could kill the teenagers, this time because of a red beam of light courtesy of Kingsley. She spun out of the way of the spell and sent a counter in his direction straight away.
Fortunately, Kingsley was up to the mark and required Bellatrix's full attention so the boys could finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"Ugh!" Harry groaned as he immediately got up and crawled towards Sirius who lay unmoving in the exact place where the summoning spell had dropped him.
"Sirius! Sirius, Wake up!! Rennervate! Rennervate! Sirius!" Harry anxiously shook his Godfather and repeatedly cast the reviving spell, but there was no response even after a while, "R-Ron! why isn't he moving, Ron?!"
"L-Let me see," Ron pushed Harry's shaking hands away and placed his fingers in front of Sirius's nose. Dread pooled inside Ron's stomach as a second passed and then another... but he could still feel no sign of life.
"R-Ron?" Harry's cracking voice was so heartbreaking that Ron couldn't bear to look at him so he tried once again and placed his fingers on Sirius's neck this time, but... the result remained the same, so he finally looked at Harry and said in a sad tone, "T-There's no pulse..."
