Vincent stared at the patriarch before answering in a calm voice, "Sister Giulia herself said it, Father. We are the guardians of the underground. Behind us, the nobility. Attacking us means becoming an enemy of the power itself. However, their actions do not show eagerness to confront us, or even, I would say they have stopped doing so. What I mean is, this war was only a pretext to make a name for themselves."
The patriarch frowned. "Vincent, are you suggesting that they were targeting our status as a great family from the beginning?"
