Falgoss, under the stern gaze of the woman on the elevated seat, quickly lowered his head.
"No, Mistress, I beg your forgiveness," he murmured, his voice betraying his embarrassment. "I do not question Page's loyalty," he added quickly, "I am simply... perplexed."
"I understand your confusion, Falgoss," said the woman with the wrinkled face. "These words are troubling, and it is natural to have doubts. But you know well that it is impossible for her to deceive us."
Falgoss simply clenched his fists and calmed himself.
With that, the woman on the elevated seat turned again to Page, her piercing black eyes fixed on her.
"As for you, I believe I asked you to remain silent," she ordered.
Page lifted her head, a sly smile stretching across her lips. "My silence would be more dangerous than my words," she replied with feigned deference. "Do I truly need to stay silent?"
