Chapter 9 - Like mother, like daughter

"A divorce?" Ryan snapped, slamming the papers on the table before him. "The bitch doesn't even have a single penny in her name and she wants what? A divorce?"

"Madam Phoenix asked me to deliver it to you as soon as possible." Phoenix's lawyer, Kane, said, leaning back I'm his seat to get a good view of him. He had spoken to Olivia a couple of times about how Ryan treats her and if a single thing he's been doing to her gets leaked out there, it'll be suicidal for his career.

"And you're bringing this to me? You've got guts Lawyer Kane. How will she even pay you if you go through with all this?" Ryan scoffed, taking a gulp from his glass of alcohol. "Just because she's A-list doesn't mean she's got all the wealth. Every single penny she owns belongs to me. Besides, she's just in her rebellious phase. Getting divorced now will only prove to everyone that she's a cheat. Going ahead to sleep with other men while still married to me."

Ryan suddenly paused, turning to eye Kane from head to toe before bursting into a hysterical laughter. "Or wait, did she sleep with you too to get through this? She is the worst in bed isn't that right?"

Kane didn't say anything and just sat before him with a frown. He wasn't even making an attempt to talk to her and was already throwing assumptions around. "I am a busy man, Ryan. I'd appreciate it if you signed those papers so we can get to the next phase of the divorce."

Ryan picked up the papers, ripping it into shreds before Kane. "So you'll both come over claiming a percentage over my property? You must be kidding."

"I assume you mean hers. If we take a more serious precaution, know this will be dangerous to your career. There are testimonials that every penny she earned was all hoarded by you and signs of domestic violence." Kane warned and this made Ryan snap, slamming his fists on the table, glaring at Kane.

"Are you threatening me? I am her husband, I can spend her money as I like. Did she tell you she never objected to it? Married couples get into scuffles once in a while, why can't I hit her?" Ryan scowled.

Kane didn't say a word and just stood up, placing a new set of papers before him. "Whether you sign it or not, your presence will be needed in court this weekend. We made sure it is in alignment with your schedule so no need to worry about your shoots. Thank you."

Kane didn't wait for a reply, he walked out of the room, leaving Ryan who was fuming in anger there. Grabbing the papers, he stormed out of the room, heading straight to the Osborne mansion.

The Osborne family mansion was a huge one, occupied by Delilah Osborne, her daughter, Eliana and her seven years old son, Leo. Since Mr Osborne fell into a coma seven years ago, they've been running the place in the worst way possible and that meant he could go in as he pleased also.

Stepping into the living room, the first thing he heard was Delilah's voice. "What do you mean by they've pulled out their investments? I had to go through hell to make them invest in this project."

"T-that's all they said, Madame."

"I also have a problem you have to deal with Delilah or the entire project is called off." Ryan cut in, slamming the papers on the table for Delilah to see. "We never agreed on this once I got married to her. I've done so much for Phoenix and now I'm getting a divorce after she cheated on me with some big shot mogul?"

"This must be a fluke." Delilah laughed as she saw the divorce papers. "Phoenix is too timid to come up with this on her own. She is crazily in love with you and is obsessed with her father's business so she won't go ahead with this. Why not just call her." Delilah laughed nervously, knowing if Ryan pulled out too at this point, she would go penniless in a short amount of time.

"Do you think this is a joke? I should have known this would happen since I saw that man with her at the hospital." Ryan hissed angrily. He didn't really care about the rumors that she had an affair with Anderson because he knew the man would never settle for a lowlife useless waste of time like Phoenix.

'She isn't even that beautiful for someone like Draven Anderson to look in her direction.' he thought, trying to set his mind on getting back his money bag. Once she was back with him, her withdrawn contracts would be given back to her and he could farm some money from the Osborne group too while hitting Natalie. A win win right?

"Why bother about her, Ryan?" Eliana's voice came from the stairs, pulling his attention towards her. "I thought we already talked about this at the hospital. All you have to do is just help me get Anderson and she'll come running back to you in no time."

"And how do you expect me to do that if she's requesting a divorce? Your Anderson title is going down the trash if she divorces me and gets together with him for real." Ryan snapped at her irritatedly.

"Why would Anderson want to stay with scum like her. Please, you overestimate my stepsister." Eliana spat, sitting next to her mother. "Then I'll get Anderson's attention myself. And mother, I'll make him invest in our business so you don't have to worry about all this."

An evil smirk appeared on Delilah's face as she heard those words. Ryan can just stick with Phoenix as he pleased. If they get Draven to invest, even Ryan would be useless to them and they'll be able to have a stand before Osborne. That's if he ever wakes up from his coma.
