Chapter 252 - Gems of the collection

Frosty grinned down at Kai, amused. Their small blue whiskers twitched slightly, but they did not say anything extra, all they said was.

"Well, if that's what you wish, I suppose we can continue, but are you sure you don't wish to take a break or anything? You seem kind of hurt and-"

"I'm sure, and that was a question, so that means we get to skip four, not three."

Frosty simply sighed in response. It had been a long, long time since they had hosted their gameshow, so they had seemingly lost their edge when it came to accidently asking questions.

It's not like it really mattered though, everything always went wrong for the contestants after question eighty.

"Fine, since you're in such a rush and don't want to spend any time with your favourite game show host, I suppose I can keep asking the questions."

The bodies of the panthers had long disappeared, making Kai a little disappointed as he hadn't gotten to make use of Soul Memorial on them. Who knew what he would have gotten if he did?

After returning to their stand, Frosty got back to asking the questions, ranging from a variety of different categories.

Slowly but surely, they continued to answer the questions correctly. Even though some of the questions took a little time to get them right, it was better than getting them wrong and potentially landing on a much more dangerous foe than six crystal panthers.

Soon enough, the reached the threshold of question sixty, where Frosty became oddly obsessed with TV shows, movies and media for some reason for a few questions, which was kind of unfair considering that neither Remy nor Cecilia had experienced them, meaning only Kai and Petunia were able to answer those questions.

Luckily, with Petunia's in depth knowledge of cartoons and children's shows, and Kai's knowledge of practically everything else, they managed to make it out of that section unharmed.

Questions seventy to seventy-five were a little stranger though, they were all to do with memory games.

Frosty would show a variety of different things, and the group would have to remember what order they came in or what shape was in a certain position, various things like that.

At first, Kai thought this round could have gone badly, considering that the floating feline spirit was not very generous with the amount of time given to memorise each option, but he had turned out to be wrong.

Cecilia was actually really good at these sorts of memory games, and it was then that Kai remembered that the ex-Queen had also been playing these with Petunia, meaning the young child was also pretty good at them.

In fact, with the minor memory enhancement from the Tunic of Rememberance thrown in, she was nearly comparable to Cecilia herself.

Of course, the black haired woman was still a little better than Petunia, which was believable considering that the blonde child was still young and Cecilia had been doing these for a little while longer, but with their combined power they managed to make it to question seventy-five without getting any more questions wrong.

But it was there that things got tricky, questions seventy-five to eighty took on the form of food questions.

Like, how would one go about making a proper cheesecake, brownie and cookie. All of that came in the form of one singular question, which was a little stupid considering that it was practically three questions.

There was also some to do with various strange ingredients in different things, but luckily, Cecilia had some knowledge on the topic, meaning they managed to successfully make it to question eighty without anything bad happening, the only misshap being when Kai had to fight the panthers.

The only question was, could they keep that streak going?

"The big question eighty, where this show is finally going to get spicy. But don't you fret dear contestants, I won't make you put on a new outfit or sing a song or anything like that, no, I'll simply make you watch as I reveal the gems of my collection!"

Kai watched with wide eyes as nearly every single one of the cages that had been there vanished, along with all the monsters inside. The only ones that remained were the ones that contained creatures over level 100, and even then there was only ten cages.

"Since there's twenty questions remaining, and only ten cages present, I'll show you ten of my most prized possessions."

One by one, a new cage appeared along with the ones that were already there.

First, there was a beast covered in thick white fur that looked like a mixture between a scorpion, ant and wolf.

Next was a thick, dark blue snowflake. It was the only thing present in its cage, so Kai didn't really have a clue what it was or what it was capable of.

There was a Glacial Goblin, only this one did not give off the same vibes as all the other ones. This ones entire body was covered in an incredibly thick ice armour and it was wielding a gargantuan greatsword, much larger than itself.

There was a large bird made of ice. Not a phoenix, but it had a slight resemblance.

Next was a massive version of the rhino bears Kai had encountered quite a bit, only this one had three horns on its head and it looked like a walking flesh fortress, its fur acting like a suit of armour.

Following that one, the next cage revealed contained a humanoid figure wearing a set of icy black armour. The armour had the same appearance as the ice armour the Glacial Goblin war, only it looked like it had been dyed in tons and tons of soot.

There was a cage that contained nothing inside it, another invisible beast, how original.

The next cage contained a massive hound like beast. Its jaws were constantly dropping saliva that would somehow freeze before it would hit the ground, and it's fangs looked sharp enough to tear Kai apart with no effort at all.

There was a large alligator like beast, its entire body a dark blue. If Kai had to hazard a guess, he would say it came from the frozen lake that he kept catching glimpses of while riding the titan's leg.

And lastly, there was a strange creature that resembled wind chimes, its body was made up of various segmented pieces of ice.

That was the ten beasts Frosty had chosen to reveal, ten of their most prized possessions.

And Kai knew exactly why.

Activating Soul Sense, Kai couldn't help but feel his blood run cold when he looked at the levels of all the beasts.

The original ten monsters, all of them were around level 100, the lowest of them being level 101 and the highest being 109.

But these ten new beasts... the lowest of them was level 137 and the highest, the strange snowflake, was level 171.

Suddenly, Kai felt that maybe these last twenty questions might not be that enjoyable for them.

"Well, what do you think, incredible beasts, right? Especially my Polar Cataclysm, my cute little snowflake buddy. My oh my, when they kick up a fuss, they really don't know how to stop. I'll tell ya, the last time they fought a contestant they... You know what, I'll leave that for you to find out if you end up having to fight them."

Kai sighed and shook his head. Why couldn't things ever just be easy? Why wouldn't there have just been an elevator that would bring them to the peak of the mountain?

Well, wishful thinking wasn't going to get him anywhere, so he may as well just keep listening to Frosty speak.

"Now that we have our line up ready, its time to spin the wheel of topics again!"

A familiar large wheel appeared beside the feline spirit, all of the topics the same, except for maths, which had been removed.

"You, Cecilia, you come up and spin it this time, maybe you'll be as lucky as the flower child. You'll definitely want to be lucky, unless you want to fight one of my collectibles of course."

Slowly, Cecilia made here way to the wheel. She glanced back at Kai over her shoulder, but he simply nodded at her.

Cecilia placed her hand on the edge of the wheel, feeling it softly before gripping onto it. Then, with all of her might, she pulled on it and the massive wheel began to spin.

Topics whirled around various times, the speed of the wheel slowing ever so slightly with each passing second.

Until eventually, the wheel landed on...

"Love!"

Kai closed his eyes and held back a sigh. What the hell was this topic even going to be like?

Luckily, Frosty was just about to explain that.

"This category is not about romance based things, nor is it about valentines day or anything like that. No, this is all about how well you know your companions, how much you know about them. Surely you know them well if you're travelling with them, right?

So now, it's time to see how much you love your dear old party members."
