"We are already being stretched thin." I stared at the demon sitting across from me. I had a headache that was growing in intensity. I rubbed my temples and tried to will the pain to go away.
Meetings with the town's council could be grueling. Today's demands were not anything I hadn't heard, but they had every right to be voiced. The tension in the conference room was thick.
"The rebellious demon numbers are growing." Nico James' fist pounded the table. The other two council members sitting alongside him nodded.
"Remember who you are speaking to," Arad said. He was a captain in her army and was one of her most trusted warriors. He sat forward in his chair, brandishing his horns. I knew the captain wouldn't have any problems putting a council member in place.
